Lost sound through wired headset

My Xbox one S has been playing sound through a wired headset plugged into the controller for over a month. Suddenly, we have no sound, no mic. I switched controllers from another console, no change, switched headset, same. I have since taken the following
steps:

Full power cycle multiple times, to include unplugging the console from the wall

Re-synch the controllers

reset the console to delete all OS data (customer support advised me of that one.)

After the console rebooted and we signed back in, nothing. Still have sound from the TV speakers, but no mic, no headset. Any ideas?

I don't see a volume adjustment in chat mixer.

Just change by # of steps 1-10. I tried multiple settings in that.

You may want to check on your chat mixer settings under the audio setting. You may have game sound turned all the way down.

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with being able to use your headset on your console.

I would like to inquire a bit more information, are you able to use your headset on your account on a different console? Or perhaps are you able to use your headset on your console with a different account?

If you are able to confirm this info for us, it should allow us to shed a bit more light on what could be the cause of this problem, and allow us to provide much more effective troubleshooting techniques that will appropriately cater
to you.

Hello Chris,

Your headset is not working at all? You state no mic, that is not working either? If it is not working and you tried it in multiple controllers. Your headset could be bad or need replacing. Try using it on a phone or PC see if it works.

Try going to your settings and go to audio then change the output and see if your console is picking up the headphones
