Lost saves for Starfield on Xbox X

I just lost about 100 hours of gameplay. I was at level 69 a few hours ago, and the game was taking a long time to load. So I followed a Microsoft article to reset my Xbox, and it loaded saves going back a month up to level 69. I loaded a couple of games to check, and no other game has lost saves.

I've tried a number of things, such as deleting local saves to get cloud saves to sync again, and nothing helps. I thought I could trust the Xbox cloud.

The cloud save got damaged when you reset the console while it was saving. Hence the need for multiple manual saves.

I made quick saves often. I don’t understand how Microsoft’s cloud saves can be so unreliable.

Unfortunately I cannot assist you recover your lost progress. However this is what you may need to keep in mind to avoid the same thing happening again. You need to regularly do a manual save not a quick save to protect from a corrupt autosave. And always have multiple copies of your saves.

I find it hard to understand how this is considered to be banal. If I were to lose data on OneDrive, or my calendars, contacts, or email, it would be a serious problem. Yet you seem to brush off the loss of data because it's just a game.
