Lost in game sound, but not party chat

I've been using several headsets over these past months and they've been working fine. 2 hours ago i lost all ingame sound and xbox menu sounds. I have tried 2 different controllers, 2 different xbox controller adapters and about 4 headsets which work fine
on other consoles. I can hear the party chat and the volume up sound when you press the button on the adapter but that's about it. Everything has been working fine for about 6 months it all stopped working suddenly.

It's not meant to be "party chat" but "chat". Whether ingame or party. But the buttons are not switching between game or party chat, but to control the balance between game sounds and voice chat.

Try giving your console a
power cycle.

Restarting the console is always best when the Xbox One interface starts acting strange.

 

I did, and then I cleaned out the whole xbox including games and apps and it's still acting out. Every headset I plug in is acting like the original one the xbox brought where it only has one speaker on an ear and can only hear party chat.

 

I, too, am having this exact problem. I have also tried switching controllers, headsets, unplugging/resetting my xbox and nothing is working. At one point, I lost all in game sound entirely. It wasn't even playing through the tv anymore. My first experience
with this problem was while playing Overwatch and it was only happening occasionally. Now it is with every game and app. Could a game be so buggy that it can mess up the system software or is this an Xbox problem?

Sorry to hear about the audio issues. When you say you, "cleaned out the whole xbox including games and apps" do you mean you

Factory Reset your Xbox One Console? If not, please go ahead and follow the guide to factor reset your Xbox One.

If the issue persists after the above steps, your Xbox One console may be in need of repair. You can start that process over on our
Online Service Center.

I'm glad to say I got it working! Clicked on settings devices and accessories, button mapping and restored defaults. This immediately fixed all the problems I had with sound on all my controllers.

I did do the factory reset using both options but that didn't do anything.
