Lost Gamertag with transition from Hotmail.com to Outlook.com

I tried ringing Microsoft Xbox support many years ago and they were a ridiculous call center with a fake american accent, that talked me through a BS piece of paper list of stuff to try. It didn't work and I got REALLY frustrated. Years later I am looking
at my Microsoft account and I remember the rubbish I went through and having this new gamer tag that has nothing on it.

So what happened was I logged into my Hotmail.com email account, it came up with some thing saying Hotmail.com was being upgraded to Outlook.com and click here to do this now. I had NO IDEA it was going to stuff up my Xbox live account. I sold my xbox, but
was going to get another in the future as I had downloaded game purchases linked to the account.... I paid for them, they are mine. I tried logging into my xbox live account in the PC and it wouldn't work, wouldn't recognize my old Hotmail.com email (as it
was updated to Outlook.com) and when I logged in as the Outlook.com it gave me a brand new empty Gamer tag.

So how...... please..... can I get all my games and experience points linked to my Outlook.com account, so when I get a new xbox, it'll all be there?

I can't sign in to Xbox Live?

When you upgrade your account from a hotmail.com account to an outlook.com account the login for hotmail no longer works for authentication. You'd need to log in using the outlook.com credentials at that point.

When I signed up for Xbox live a few years ago I used a Hotmail.com address.

I have recently migrated all my services over to an Outlook.com address, and wish to do the same with my Xbox account. I am presently having to sign out of Outlook.com and then into Hotmail.com in order to access my Xbox account etc.

Is it possible to migrate my email address so that my registered address for my Xbox account is my Outlook.com address?
