Lost fallout 4 saved gamed

I had a 4 almost 5 day save file and about level 60 or so. I loaded that save a couple of days ago. Just logged in today and all the save are just gone, except a really old 1 day save. I think they save on the cloud or something. So just wanna know two things
is there anyway to get those saves back or am i just ***, and is there anyway not to save on the cloud or whereever the default save is, and save on my external harddrive or usb drive. Id feel more safer controlling where my save goes.

Xbox has made me lose my game progress

Also I would like to say that I have not just lost Fallout 4 game progress other games like AC. I have had Fallout 4 for a year Now and have already lost progress for it in the last month.

funny...same thing happened to me. Got to level 22 and was kicked back to level 7. YES...it should be on the cloud or something but how do you recover?

If you were connected to Xbox Live, your save data stores on both the console and the cloud. The only way to not save to the cloud is to always play the game offline, as soon as you close the game from being online, your local data is synced with the cloud.
Maybe erasing your local data and redownloading from the cloud would fix it. Or try resyncing to the cloud. But other than that, there is no way to control where your saves go. I'm sure you could copy your saves to a USB or external HDD, but if you are connected
to Xbox Live, it will also save in the cloud no matter what.

What are the steps to do this, there is no obvious way to force a re-sync? Is there a "none game" way to see if your saves exist somewhere? Why would they just disappear for no reason? Over 150 hours of commitment to the game, bam! gone... sucks being you
buddy, start again. Have Microsoft servers had some attack which they haven't admitted has screwed up user's data?
