Lost External Hard Drive- How much trouble am I in?

I use a Toshiba 2TB external drive with my Xbox One. It works great, or it did, until it suffered a fall from a shelf. The drive is completely dead.

My question is: Have I lost all of my saved games, or are they on the cloud with all of the things I have purchase? (Everything still shows up in the "ready to install" tab)

How much do the external hard drives usually cost? Does Reformatting help?

External Hard Drive Troubles!!!!

Have you tried plugging the device into the computer? That might help determine if there is an issue with the device itself. I have a similar issue now where my xbox will not detect my device at all but the power light is solid for me and my computer says
that it is working fine.

As long as you've been connected while playing, your game saves are stored on the cloud. And then you can just redownload everything else. So it's really not too bad except having to wait for the downloads.

Thank you so much for the update and I apologize for the trouble. Do you have an external hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted hard drive may cause issues as welll.

I am having trouble with my external hard drive on my xbox one and ever since that new update my xbox one wont recognize that my external hard drive is plugged in I have tried the trouble shooting steps and nothing seems to work and my external hard drive
is a 3.0 Toshiba external drive is this problem going to be fixed before its released to the general public because I want to play my games that are saved to that drive can anyone tell me if this problem is even being looked into at all

The external hard drive was around 20% full. After the I formatted the external hard drive it went down to 0% as everything was uninstalled. Thing is i tried transfering Battlefield 1 from the internal hard drive to the now empty external hard drive and
it started transferring. Battlefield 1 was one of the games that just stopped installing/transferring when i wanted to move from the internal to the external hard drive so i might of fixed the problem. Now i am just concerned that the games that were uninstalled
will not have anyting saved and i will have lost everything.
