Lost and unrecovered gamertags/missing gamerscore

I for one am personally proud of my gamerscore, although it may not be as high as many others. Throughout my 15 years of Xbox ownership, I have lost several gamertags with scores north of 10,000 G. This is a horrible thing when it happens, but sometimes
due to real life circumstances these things do happen. Yes, I have gone through all the proper channels in order to attempt to recover these accounts. Sometimes you legitimately cannot recover one. Given the chance I could recover all accounts, I truly believe
I'm missing at least 30,000 Gamerscore.

Having said this, am I the only one?

Responsibility is a great thing to be taught at any age. I'm glad to see your boys are learning a good valuable life lesson from gaming. As stated by fellow ambassador BadJackDaniels above, "treat it like a bank account."

To some people it may be an irrelevant factor, but to others in certain situations, like a divorce; it becomes a huge factor. You just never know what somebody wants to take from you, until you do. Thank you for the response and engagement on the forums!

Personally i do not believe we need something like it. Three reasons: first one, i do not see why someone would actually need to ‘merge’ his old profiles for gamerscore (given that gamerscore is just a number nowadays); second one: it would create a real
market for that circled G, with lot of old profiles sold and new one merged into a single account (even if the gamerscore is just a number, i am sure someone would pay for a boost); third one, if someone has had more than one profile, why should he have the
possibility to create a single one? This person could have used a single profile as most of the people actually do.

Given these three my ideas, I have to say that nowadays gamerscore do not mean anything: there are TONS of games in which you can just get the 1000g in under 3-4 hours (and a lot that requires just a single hour of game). I am sure that in 2-3 months of
gaming anyone could achieve a 100,000 gamerscore just playing those games that have a easy achievement completion.

Gamerscore used to mean something some years ago, when you had to play a lot a game to have that 1000g, something like Halo Mcc now: if you want those 1000g for every game you have to play a lot every one of them.

I have always maintained a master account and treated it with the utmost respect because it is essentially a receipt of all of your gaming accomplishments in one place. There is no harm in keeping back up accounts but I would never recommend substantive
gaming spread across multiple accounts because it becomes too chaotic to keep organised.

I do hope you are able to salvage something and rebuild your gamer score.
