    lost all progress in Microsoft Mahjong


    My wife has been playing Microsoft Mahjong a lot lately on her Surface Pro 2. We turned on her tablet today and tried to play and for some reason all of her progress has been deleted. To my knowledge, everything is up to date. She wasn't signed in to
    a live account when she was playing before, but the last time we tried to play we were connected to an account that we didn't set up. She doesn't need a Xbox live account, we just need to know how to sign out of this one, or something. Whatever will bring
    back all the progress she earned previously. I chatted with xbox live support, which was far from helpful, and was given info to call a different branch that told me they couldn't help either and to call someone else who was an automated system that said
    there was an hour wait just to talk to some one. I'm going through way too much trouble and jumping through too many hoops all for a free game. PLEASE help me figure this out!

    Lost game progress

    I have just discovered that I have somehow lost all my saved progress in the Jigsaw Jam section of Microsoft Jigsaw. While I understand that this is the Microsoft Jigsaw forum, I have also lost game progress in Microsoft Mahjong. What happened that I lost
    all my progress?

    All July Progress Lost

    In Microsoft Mahjong I had all of July up to current, minus three days of the daily challenges completed. Now all of that progress is missing.

    Please help.

    Unfortunately the issue lies in the fact that she wasn't signed in to Xbox. You don't have to do anything special to get an Xbox account- you can use whatever email account you used to set up your account on your device. This is most likely what happened-
    it just created a "default" account for her. What the Xbox login does is saves your progress- your games, achievements, etc. There are a lot of good things about this- for instance your achievements and the like will go with you across multiple devices, if
    you have to wipe your computer you won't lose your progress, etc. The downside is that if you play without an account, you don't get these features.



    I will check with some members of my team and see if there's any way to get her progress back. When it asked her to sign-in to Xbox, did she enter anything at all? Any additional information you can give me about anything that changed will help. Thanks!

    Issue with Microsoft Solitaire Collection

    Hello Samy, I tried the first step, (troubleshoot) which really didn't help, so I started to go to the next step, which is to reset Microsoft Store. However, when I get to the point of reset, it said "the apps data will be deleted".Does that mean that I will lose all my progress in the Solitare game? I also play Mahjong. Will all my progress be lost on that too? Same question for step 3: if I reset Solitare will I lose all my progress?

    What Files to Back Up to Prevent Reset?

    I restored the whole "Microsoft.MicrosoftTreasureHunt_8wekyb3d8bbwe" directory, including all its subdirectories/files, and ended up losing 105 levels of progress instead of all 152 levels of progress.

    However, that method may only work for the same user on the same machine with the same install of Windows and the same app version of Treasure Hunt. I tried a similar restore for Mahjong (I lost all my Mahjong medals in October after trying Windows 10)
    and I was unable to start Mahjong after restoring the data.

    If you have a second Windows 8.1 device, it might be safer to periodically open Treasure Hunt on that device as another user suggested in the "Reset" thread, which will give you a ready-to-go working backup if you need it.
