Lost access to Microsoft Authenticator app

When you setup two factor authentication Microsoft sends you a 25 character key. This key is VERY important because if you lost access to the autheticator app that key is the one can let you access to your account.

If you never saved it, sorry to say but is not possible to recover the account.
Recovery form doesn't work with accounts where two factor authentication is enabled

Also, just to give an extra advise, try enabling two steps verification and use Microsoft authenticator app (or any authentication app) + add emails or phone numbers that belongs to you.

In that way your account is going to be more secure and only you can access to it

Use the Microsoft authenticator app. Even with a password, they cant access the account without a notification on your phone, which you then have to approve?

Hi Kyle. Thanks for replying. I must have setup 2sv at some point in past and forgotten . Recently my playstation logged out of MSN and now I can't access online games such as cod. I know my MSN login and password but at 2sv screen I get stuck. It asks me to use the authenticator app. What authenticator app, I don't have one. Anyway I downloaded Microsoft one but plysttion not accepting codes it generated.

I'm using a different mobile now as lost previous one, could it be this?..

i’m Alvise, an independent consultant and I can understand your concern and, please, don't worry I am here to help you

You need to access the security dashboard of your Microsoft account (where you have already logged in in the past) then click on the item "Add a new sign-in method or verification" then click on the item "Use an App"

Now from the next window you will see the item "Set up the Microsoft Authenticator app", click on the item "Set up a different authentication app", now you see a window appear with the QR code to scan with the authentication app that you use.

NOTE: Once this configuration is complete, all the codes generated by the authentication app that you configured previously will no longer work.
