Lost access to email addresses used for account

When you
create a Microsoft account, you can choose to sign in with any email account you currently use. We recommend using an email account that you monitor frequently. You’ll need access to this email address to sign in to your Xbox console. Simply type the email
address in the field and we’ll walk you through the rest. When creating a Microsoft account, you can use:

• An email address with a Microsoft domain such as @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com
  
• Any valid email address that you use and monitor regularly

Note If you use a non-Microsoft email address to create your account, we will send a validation email to that address to verify that you have access. Simply find the email and follow the
instructions to complete validation.

If you don’t currently have an email address you can use, or if you’re setting up an account for a child who does not yet have an email account, you can opt to create a new Outlook.com email address during
signup.

To access your Xbox Live account, you must know both the email address and password that you use to sign in to your Microsoft account. If you have lost or forgotten your password, you will need to reset it in order to create a new password.

Important If you’ve forgotten both your Microsoft account email address
and your password, first retrieve your email address using the
Lost Account Solution, then
reset your password.

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. I'm sorry that you seem to be having some difficulty in updating your account alias. If the email address that you wish to use has already been taken by another account that you don't have access to, then you
would not be able to choose to use it as the primary alias on your existing account.

That being said, you can always use a different email address that you do have access to as a new alias (email address for log in) on your current account or create a new email address to do so. I'm including some links in this post that may be of use to

I recommend logging into the email address associated with the account. If you do not have access to the email account, then follow the recovery steps for that account.
