lost a pre order character for gears of war 3

i was playing gears of war 3 on xbox one and i went to change my character to one of my pre order bonus characters i had and it has come to my attention that it isn't there. i already checked my games and apps to see if i forgot to install it but it is not
there and i can recall that when i played gears 3 a few weeks ago on my xbox one i had that character. ive also tried going onto my 360 and copying the character over with a usb but when i plug the usb into my xbox one it recognizes it as a media device not
an external device and i cannot access the contents of the usb and transfer the characters over. i would like to know how to get it back any help will be appreciated.

Ive bought a few costumes, but nothing major and not often. Last thing I got was the Catwoman outfit with some MS points I got from selling a pre order character code for Gears 3.

Sorry to hear about the issue! Just to clarify which pre-order character are you unable to see on your Xbox One console? Also, are you checking for the character while selecting Gears of War 3 and pressing Manage game in the My Games & Apps section? Unfortunately,
you will not be able to install content on your Xbox 360 via USB on your Xbox One. If you are still unable to see character in the Ready to Install section, I suggest trying the following steps:

• First, uninstall Gears of War 3 by navigating to My Games & Apps.
• Under the Games tab, select Gears of War 3 and press the Menu button.
• Select Manage Game and then select Uninstall.
• After the game has uninstalled, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once your console has powered off, wait a few minutes and then power on your console.
  
• Navigate back to My Games and Apps, then under the Games tab check for Gears of War 3 in the Ready to Install section.
  
• Select Gears of War 3 and then select Install.
• Once the game has been installed, select Gears of War 3 again and press the Menu button.
  
• Select Manage Game and check for the missing character in the Ready to Install section.

the character i am missing is commando dom. and yes that was the first thing i did when i noticed my character was missing i selected mange game on gears 3.

 

i have done what you have said and the character still hasnt appeared. i find this odd that it randomly is gone when i did have the character before when playing gears 3 while using the backward compatibility

 

i had two characters that shouldve been transferred over. one was aaron griffin when they had a facebook promotion to get the character and that transferred but my pre order character commondo dom transferred but now it is gone

Just to confirm, is it possible you redeemed that pre-order character while signed into a different account? If the content was redeemed on a different account you would need to sign into that account in order to access the content on your Xbox One.
