    Hi,

    I just tried loading RD2 and it couldn't connect to the server right away so I started offline and it had me at a 5 day old save. Restarted once and the game connected to the internet, but I still didn't have my most recent save. Now, I've tried deleting
    the saved data from the Xbox and restarting and still have the same problem.

    All of my autosaves and my manual save from last night are gone. I love playing this game but I don't want to replay 12+ hours of gameplay.

    Where are my saves if they're not on the cloud??

    This, compounded with the servers going down the past couple days.. I've had an Xbox for 3 months and this is a lot of headaches for what is supposed to be a fun distraction.

    Please get me my gameplay back.

    there Ian,

    Thanks for the reply! In reference to your question, You
    must have a regular connection to Xbox Live to keep your data in sync. Playing offline may cause your cloud data to become out of sync. Your data updates each time you connect to Xbox Live.

    If the problem persists, try doing a
    soft factory reset of the console,
    Reset and keep games and apps to help reset the operating system. Please note before doing this troubleshooting step, make sure to know your email and passwords for your Xbox profiles.

    Hiya Ian,

    Thank you for contacting Forum support.

    Sorry to hear there is an issue with recovering saved data for Red Dead Redemption 2.

    Once the console is connected to a network it will register your save progress and synch to the cloud once the game is loaded.

    (Please always make sure the console is connected to the internet before you clear anything on it)

    If the console is offline or is not connected to a network before any data/storage is cleared then, you may lose progress
    (it will reload your previous gameplay from your local saved progress that was registered to the cloud last).


    Although, if the content is not resynching even after attempting troubleshooting then, please contact the Developer for more assistance:

    Hey Ian,

    Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, it seems when you connected to the servers after being offline, it overwrote your previous save. I still suggest you try

    removing and re-adding your account
    to see if this is the case.

    1. Press the Xbox button
      to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Account
      > Remove accounts.
    3. Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.
    4. When you're finished, select Close.

    I should also mention that while the Xbox servers were totally down last week, I played offline and it worked fine. So, I never would have imagined that it would be possible to lose so much progress. I am truly upset, because I love the game, but I have
    zero inclination to replay that many hours due to a technical error.

    So, correct me if I'm wrong here, to avoid this disastrous situation in future I should never play Xbox games unless the cloud is connected? I still don't understand why my manual save from last night would be lost.. how come it doesn't save on my physical
    Xbox?

    Why would it be a Rockstar service problem if this was an Xbox account connectivity issue? It seems to me that if my saves are stored on Xbox's cloud, then it's an issue with that service when I'm reverted to a several days old save (after many hours of
    gameplay and manual saving). Whether we're talking drive storage or cloud storage, I don't understand why so much progress could be lost and I don't think that your explanation covered this.

    Also, today my Xbox crashed (turned off) while I was playing another game (Rise of Tomb Raider) is it possibly a hardware problem?
