Lost 4 GB of data after update

I had a heck of a time updating my xbox, got an error code, had to unplug my flash drive and plug it back in. Anyway, finally got the update, went to sign in but my profile was gone. I checked in storage to find it, and my memory unit was "unformatted".
I lost all the memory on it, including my profile, which I re downloaded onto the flash drive. The next day, the memory unit showed up as almost full, with 83 MB left. But, when I looked in it, THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE FOLDERS! I have no idea what is happening
and I know I'll never get the game data back. I was just wondering if anyone knows what might have caused this, so it doesn't happen again.

Update Loop & Corrupted File Message

yesterday after the update i lost all my saved data off of a 16 gb disk. that update is messing with a lot of people on these forums from what im seeing.

Didn't work. Still had to enter my password to connect and got the same message. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for the help anyway. It was fine until the last update, and everything went screwy, including that my memory unit unformatted itself and I lost
4 GB of data.

 

Sounds like you are putting the flash drive on your pc. This cannot be done when it is being used for the xbox. To prevent this in the future, format the flash drive on you pc before using it on the console.

 

i lost all of my gta 5 info and data instantly after the update yesterday. i had it on a 16 gb disk.
