Loss of Surround sound when Direct TV Cable Box is connected for Live TV.

Having issues with surround sound when my Direct TV cable box is run in series with my Xbox One to Yamaha receiver to Samsung TV. When I add the DVR to the mix I get perfect picture and STEREO sound but no SURROUND. I've tried everything under the sun too
include making sure all the one settings are set to Surround and 5.1. I even spent 1 1/2 hours with Microsoft online support which ended up being a repeat of everything I had already tried several times. My setup is as follows: HDMI from Direct TV HD DVR (HR22/100)
to associated HDMI port on Xbox One, HDMI from Xbox One to AV Receiver (Yamaha RX-V1600), HDMI from AV Receiver to Samsung TV (PN59D6500DF). I'm using Monster HDMI cables from the DVR to the Xbox and from the receiver to the TV. Without surround the Live TV
function is useless to me which is a shame because that functionality is one of the main reasons I picked up the One. Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance for any responses provided.

    :)

C'Mon Microsoft we need an answer to this! Xbox One Kinect Extention Cable

I just hope they make an extension cable. Not everyone keeps their receiver near their TV. Mine is sitting in a cabinet in my kitchen along with my DIrect TV Receiver and Apple TV. I have all the cables running through the ceiling and then down to my
    TV.

If i want to play the xbox 1 in my living room, then i need an extension for the kinect or i can't use my direct tv box and surround sound receiver.

Screen freeze every 2 seconds with 2d message on cable box

I have the same issue as well. When I switch the tv sound output from sterio to surround sound the sound issue fixes for a little while but eventually reverts to no live tv sound, but sound for everything else. The screen freezing issue occurs no matter
what and is a huge pain. I have the Element-4605HDC time warner cable box and it works perfectly fine when plugged directly into the tv

No Xbox One audio through Sony Surround receiver only get Sky Tv audio? But i can through the tv.

You would actually want your hd box connected to your xbox one then your xbox one to your surround sound and then the surround sound to the tv. this way, your tv will display the picture but your surround sound will intercept the audio. the surround sound
works as and audio/video in AND out device. Your sky tv wouldn't connect to the xbox at all as far as I know, that would have to be plugged in directly to the sony surround sound and you would change the input on the surround sound rather than the tv.

Here are some cool diagrams to setup your home theater system

Does anyone else experience a weird "clicking" sound when playing Xbox 360 games while on an Xbox series x?

    Hi MattorNova,

    You're welcome for answering.

I understand, you're using the sound directly from the TV. In that case, the problem may be related to the TV or the connection between the TV and the console.

Can you confirm that the TV is set to receive surround sound? You can check this in the TV's audio settings.

You can also try changing the HDMI cable that connects the console to the TV. If you're using an old HDMI cable, it may not be compatible with surround sound.

    Best regards,
    Vanessa.
