Loss of sound in games/chat

I have no sound when i play my games, others can hear me talk and i cant hear them. I get sound when i am at the dashboard making selections...wtf???

ive had this problem as well on my xbox. I did a full shutdown of the xbox and unplugged everything in the back for 20 minutes. Seems to hard reset everything and my xbox goes back to normal. See if that works for you too.

Audio issues sometimes happen when you are experiencing some kind of interference in your home if your connected through wifi. What you can try is go to:

Settings> Network> advanced settings> Alt mac address> Clear> Restart

Your console will reboot itself and you will clear off all network settings to reprogram your router. This should smooth out your network. Try your games again after, if your still having issues please repost.

If the issue does go away completely with the new cable, then try a different HDMI cable than the one you were using earlier. If this new cable doesn't produce the same result, you'll know the cable was fualty. If the same issue occurs with another cable,
the HDMI port will need to be repaired.

I really don't use Zune or Hulu. I don't recall it happening with either of those the very little I have used them. As I mentioned it happens only once in a while and I have not found a way to synthesize it. I will try hooking it up using component and see
what happens. If that does not fix the problem it may be a while before it happens again. I feel that I should mention that I used to have my XBox hooked up through an external sound system, but do not now. This occurs with and without a direct feed to the
television.
