Losing connection to Xbox Live while more than on Xbox One is connected

We have two Xbox one in the house, one is wired and one is wireless connection to our router. Either one of these can connect and play multiplayer games without too many problems but when the second Xbox One tries to connect to a multiplayer game the wireless
Xbox is disconnected from Xbox live.

This is some of the information I've gathered that has been asked for on other threads

What Country/State/Province do you live in? - United Kingdom

Modem brand & model number: - Virgin Media Superhub 2

Router brand & model number: - Virgin Media Superhub 2

How many Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles are connected to this router?: - Two Xbox One, we also have three Xbox 360 that I've not yet tested with this problem.

Wired or Wireless (for each console): One of the Xbox one is wireless the other is wired to the router

    Things you have tried:

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown: Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: - NAT status shows Open on both Xboxes

Any Error Codes you encounter: - Can't remember the exact words but there is a standard disconnection error message with no details as to why the disconnection occurs

Who is your ISP? (Internet Service Provider): - Virgin Media

    :)

  3. Xbox One Advanced War Fighter edition console issues

My Xbox One is randomly losing connection to the controllers. They are paired and connected but the controllers don't wok. I have to unplug power to the Xbox and plug back in after 30 seconds and then it works again. This is happening more and more
    frequently.

Do you have them set up with static/reserved IP #s in your router? If not try that and see if it makes a difference.

  5. I doubt you will ever get it right with that super hub , need a gaming style router that does upnp the right way or the Xboxs will just fight over the ports ...

Sorry I missed out a vital piece of information - To get the wireless Xbox one to stay connected I had to enable one of the four 'guest' wireless connections on the router and dedicate that connection to the XBox one. Running the XBox on the main wireless
network caused it to disconnect if any other device connected, running it on its own dedicated guest connection allows it to stay connected until I enter a multiplayer game on our other Xbox One which is wired to the router.

The router doesn't seem to allow me to set a static IP Address for devices connected to the guest wireless networks, only the main wireless network.

Bimnog, so it is a port conflict issue that can't be solved on the Virgin Media router by configuration? I'll not be happy as my son and daughter could both play on their own Xbox 360s at the same time going through the old Superhub router with no problems.

Xbox oNE is a diffetant beast than the 360 , UPNP is vital in keeping the right traffic to the right ports on the right xbox,...

You can try different configurations but in my experience devices like game consoles work much better if they are assigned their own static/reserved IP address and as Bimnog says if the router does UPnP well. You will find that a good gaming router makes
all the difference in the world.

Just a little search on the internet will show you that the Virgin Media Superhub 2 and the XBOX One do not play well together. I know that is not what you want to hear but unfortunately that is the facts. You will also find that as a general rule the
combo (modem/router) devices supplied by the ISPs are by far the most problematic configurations. The ISPs typically supply very inexpensive devices because all they are really wanting to accomplish is to get their basic service delivered to you.

    Update:-

After hours of reading I've tried lots of different settings on the router and ended up with a configuration of -

    • Assigned static IP addresses to my son's Xbox One (XBox1 (connects wirelessly)) and my XBox One (XBox2 (wired to the router))

    • Set the wireless mode to 'up to 54Mbps'

    • Set Xbox1 to be the sole user of the 2.4GHz Primary wireless network and set all other wireless devices to use either the Primary 5GHz or a 2.4GHz guest network.

    • Forwarded the following ports to XBox1

    o TCP & UDP

     3074

     53

     3659

     3075

     80

     88

     500

     3544

     4500

    o TCP

     42100 - 42200

     7500 - 17899

     30000 - 40399

    o UDP

     35000 - 35099

     1200

     1001

    • Put XBox2 in the DMZ - note any changes to the port forwarding seems to disable the DMZ

Result - My son can now play multiplayer online games (FIFA16, CoD Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront and Destiny), he got 5 to 6 hours (spread over a few days) of online gaming without a single disconnect. Both XBox Ones have also been playing online
at the same time for an hour or so without disconnect, I was playing Destiny while he was playing CoD. We've also managed 4 PvP games of Destiny together in the same fireteam without disconnecting. Previously this was impossible as soon as XBox2 connected
to a multiplayer game XBox1 was disconnected, every time.

All in all I'm cautiously optimistic that we've found a solution, but I am still waiting for a disappointed shout from my son's bedroom every time I connect to a multiplayer game.
