    I saw some threads in 2022 complaining about this issue. It was never resolved. It was just said it should be compatible. It's on the list. Well I thought my disc was bad or something so I bought another one for $40 and lo and behold. It gives me the same message that it is game error the game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again which you can't do on Xbox 360 anymore but I shouldn't have to do because I have a disc in. So with two different disk both which worked in the past well at least one of them mine. The new one has no scratches so it's supposed to be new. Either way my question is are you ever going to do anything about it or should I just throw these in a dumpster.

    The Lord of the Rings. The Third Age was initially compatible with the Xbox 360 through its backwards compatibility program. However, it is true that it no longer works even with an internet connection. While the game was listed as compatible and many users were able to play it, it appears that backwards compatibility support for some older titles has been discontinued by disabling the game servers.

    It has been removed from the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

    The Xbox 360 Marketplace, where games and DLC could be downloaded, was disabled on July 29, 2024, according to the Xbox support website.

    This means that the game may no longer be able to access the files or updates required for compatibility.
