    Loose wire connection issue (Headset)


    I have a day one original xbox one headset that came with the console back in 2013. Up till today it had been working fine without any issues, with over 100's of hours of use since. Then I go to use it today when I join a friends party and while I'm perfectly
    able to connect to the party and hear my friend speaking, its impossible for my mic to pick up any sound from my end.

    Upon doing every step of the headset troubleshooting page on the xbox support page, it still remains. Even trying the latest controller firmware to using a different controller. After trying everything I noticed that by wiggling and pressing hard upwards on
    the wire that connects it to the connector. It starts to recognize sound input from the mic. So its seems to me its a loose wire connection to the base connector that's causing the issue.

    So my question is... is there any other fix I could try or some solution? Or am I screw'ed and have to purchase another mic? Considering that this one is only a year and half old. When my 2005 xbox 360 mic lasted me till 2011...

    Headset HELP

    If you have another headset (even a regular wired headset that comes with an Xbox, or a plain hands-free headset for an old cell phone) you can try that. If headset 2 also has the loose connection problem, then you know it's your controller at fault. If
    headset 2 works, then try another controller. If controller 2 also has the loose connection problem then you know it's your headset's wire at fault.

    Popping/Crackling Sound From Friend's Xbox One Headset

    Sounds like he may have a loose wire in the headset. Please have him try a different headset. If there is no popping sound coming from his end with a different one then that would be the issue.

    Is the headset wired or wireless? If the headset is wired, it could be an issue with the cable connecting the headset to the controller.

    That sucks man. I have had none of those issues. My chat headset is used almost daily too. Could you possibly be unplugging it by pulling on the wire? That would certainly cause the wires to become loose.
