Looking to play online

I haven't really played it at all, and I couldn't figure out how to play online, I am still at the beginning, but I'm level 4... any help would be awesome

To bring people to your world, you must be human. To do that, make sure you've used a humanity (or alternatively have a number other than 0 in the upper left of the screen) and go to a bonfire. Use the option to reverse hollowing in order to become human.
Once that is done, look for white or gold signs on the ground that allow you to summon those players into your game.

In order to be summoned, you have to get the white sign soapstone from Solaire. To find Solaire, you have to get to the bridge past the Taurus Demon where Solaire will be hanging out. Talk to him a few times and answer his questions and he'll give you
the soapstone. Then, just use the item to put your sign down and have others summon you to their world.

I'd be more than willing to help you through the game, I have been looking for a reason to start a new character and I love helping people through the game. I can also help with where to get good items (may involve suicide runs) and generally any knowledge
you may want to know.

Is online even working? I still don't see any bloostains, phantoms, ect..

I bought the pc version and it seems the gfwl crowd dishes out more humanity. I'm way further along in the 360 version but people don't really seem to be playing much. Never seem to get humanity either by grid or someone rating your message.

Farm humanity off of the rats in The Depths. You're never going to get a significant amount of humanity from rating your messages.
