    Meet James Vega

    According to BW Vega is the "tank" soldier while Ash is the "assualt" soldier. and if you've ever played an mmo or a game that had the basic three roles (tank dps healer) the tanks usually look pretty bulky in all the plate/heavy armor they wear.
