If dectective games interest you why not try sherlock holmes vs jack the ripper and The testament of sherlock holmes, they will test the gray matter. I would also suggest picking up monkey island 1&2, there is also a game called gray matter you may enjoy
    too

    Looking for games that?

Right, you didn't specify 360 or ONE so...

    On the 360:

    Catherine.

It's a puzzle game at it's core... probably easiest to just Goolge some gameplay footage. This plays out around the story of Vincent who's in a quandry over which girl he should choose... Katherine... his long term partner who's starting to think they should
get serious and marry... or Catherine... the girl who he woke up next to after a night of heavy drinking who doesn't require anywhere near the same level of commitment. This leads to nightmares of climbing puzzle towers... and if you die in the dream... they
say you die in real life too.

    "Viva Pinata"

I hear this came out for Games With Gold in November? The first one is a brilliant game full of depth and content. Excellent game that shows you that the best games on the 360 don't always have to end up having you kill something.

    "Civilization: Revolution"

You won't have to kill people. You can get your armies to do it for you. And you can play it as Ghandi. Where else can you play as Ghandi?

    On the ONE

    "Alien: Isolation".

If you remember the 1979 classic then this game has captured the mood and visuals of the film that you will feel completely immersed in Ridley Scott's "Alien" Universe. The game received poor reviews from people who were frustrated that they couldn't call
in an airstrike after 10 minutes and amazing reviews from those who got what it says on the box: a Survival Horror. Brilliant game.

    "Peggle 2"

It's a puzzle game, not too expensive and a fun one too. The sort of thing you'd find on your smartphone but actually transfers to your living room Television Screen perfectly and is just as much, if not more, entertaining.

    "Sunset Overdrive"

You kill stuff in this one but you're also old enough to appreciate this game. While being fresh and new it will take you back to the best stuff you've played throughout your life.

    "Diablo III"

You are gonna have to kill stuff in this game too but it is one of the best games on the XBox ONE (and available for 360 if you don't have a ONE) and is also arguably the game with the longest life on the ONE as well... since the developers have found away
to allow you to play this Dungeon Crawler pretty much forever. So for being so amazing, also being my wife's favourite game... also being my buddy's 60 year old mother's favourite game on the 360 this should definately go down on your "must try" list.

Hope some of that is helpful.

Heavy Rain was the first thing that came to mind, but unless you also have a PS3, that's no good to you. Actually, most good non-violent games I can think of are PS3(Journey is another one) exclusives or PC only(the
Broken Sword series and Myst & Syberia are good ones if you have a pc you can play games on) which is a shame in itself Looking for games that? :(

Are you looking for something 100% no fighting/hitting things or just non-gory/no killing? There's quite a few Spyro-type games where you bop a cartoony monster and get some kind of collectible in return, any interest in those?

Did a bit of hunting for you and apparently Mirror's Edge can be done without killing anyone which may be a good start(there's probably quite a few games where you can go through with stealth and sneaking around instead of killing, but I
can't think of any atm except the recent Thief). Detective/murder mystery types are often combat-free as well, how about
The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and Gray Matter? There's quite a few Sherlock ones actually if you fancy those, just not sure which are good or not.

How do you feel about horror games? Quite a few of those have no fighting and you just have to run/hide if something's coming for you(which adds to the scariness a bit, haha). Again, lots of PC-only ones of these, but if you have a decent PC, the
Amnesia games or Outlast would be a good start.

Oh, how about Catherine? Haven't played it yet, but the storyline sounds pretty interesting. Might have a few sexy scenes if those bother you.

I know you said no to Minecraft, but have you tried the demo? It's free to try on the xbox marketplace and I tried it thinking it was absolutely not my thing(wanted to see what all the fuss is about) and looked rubbish and was hooked straight away. Absolutely
nothing in the way of story though, so not what you're looking for here.

And if you do decide you don't mind combat again in future, Mass Effect has an engaging story and lots of choices and so on. Noticed it wasn't on your played games list and it's very cheap these days(under a fiver). There is a fair bit of
fighting, but it's not a gratuitous "kill everything in sight for no reason" kind of game and lets you make non-violent choices in a lot of cases.

Awk, it won't let me edit, but I though of another. How about Deus Ex: Human Revolution as another one that can apparently be done without killing?

The Xbox needs another Broken Sword game. In general, those games aren't my type of thing but I was totally addicted to all the Broken Sword games, very much a relaxed challenge getting through them.

Also , Tomb Raider : Anniversary , Tomb Raider : Legend , Tomb Raider : Underworld , ok you may have to kill the odd thing here and there but all do require a modicum of logic and thought to get through .

Portal 2 is a great game with some great humour in it as well. Plenty of puzzles in there to make the old grey matter work, a few years old now though.

fair enough. but if you already have a working PS3 and PC, the only thing you'd need an xbox for would be exclusives.
