Looking for an easy to use capture device for my Xbox 360.

I don't feel like spending the money on a high end capture card that comes with video editing software and all that. I don't exactly need HD or plan to use this recording device a lot. I just want video that's at least 480p and solid audio. Basically, I'm
just going to use it to record my EZ Muze songs (since EZ Muze's servers seem to be down permanently) and a few fly throughs of some cool worlds my friends and I made in Minecraft 360 Edition. I have an Xbox One as well but the Game DVR does everything I really
need it to for that. I've been seeing these USB capture devices ranging anywhere from $2 to $40 but they all have female audio/video cords. Wouldn't I need the male cords? Also, I guess you're supposed to make sure they come with a driver installation disk
so your computer can interpret what you record. Basically, I just wan't something for less than $50, with decent enough audio and video quality, that is super simple to set up and use. Any suggestions? Please and thank you.

    :)

What is the least expensive screen capture device that works for the Xbox 360?

    Hello,

What is the least expensive screen capture device that works for the Xbox 360? I don't want one of the $100-200 ones, nor one that requires me to install a capture card in my computer tower. I don't need it to be high-res, nor capture video or audio. I just
need it to work somehow through whatever easy connection between my Xbox 360 console and computer, which I certainly assume will be through USB. I'm just looking to make screen captures of my 'Soulcalibur V' character creations.

    Thanks!

My nephew wants a capture device as he doesnt have a pc for a capture card. Can any of you recommend one that provides good quality and is easy to use? Would be good if you have links to videos you have captured with it.

Your requirements are a little off and thus you may be best off just recording the screen with a digital camera.

Essentially any capture device works as a passthrough between your system and your TV (or AVR); this means that the capture device has to have an input that is the same as your console's output, typically HDMI. I don't believe any console will output via
two different video out, so if you buy one that only accepts RCA In then you have to use RCA Out of the Xbox; unless you want to buy a bunch of converts and splitters which will increase your price.

The only capture device I can truly attest to is the Elgato Game Capture HD. I have been using it for a few years now and it is truly rock solid. It captures in 1080p 30fps, stereo audio, has a decent although barebones editor, and allows you to upload directly
to YouTube or other services. Also connects to Twitch for live streaming. The Elgato is selling on Amazon right now for $155.

It looks like Roxio sells a capture device for around $100, but I cannot attest to its quality.

The $50 ones you are probably looking at only capture SD footage, which you are fine with, however, they will require you to also play at SD resolutions.

It is a shame the Xbox One DVR cannot record the TV app because of that were the case we'd all be able to plug our Xbox 360s into our Xbox One and record clips that way.

    Hope this helped.

Yeah I see why they dont let you record using the tv app for copywright reasons but itd be awesome if I could use Xbox Ones DVR to record off my xbox. I actually almost tried that once but realized you cant record with the tv app. I'll probably just get
an SD one but hopefully I can figure out how to work it.

I want to video record on youtube

What you're looking for is a Capture device. They are sold at most electronics stores and can vary in cost and quality. Standard definition is cheaper while higher resolution will cost more. You plug your 360 into the device, which splits the signal between
your tv and the computer, the latter of which will record the footage using software that comes with the device.

I've personally used Pinnacle devices, which are easy to use and can be quite cheap.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Is there an in game A / V recorder box that does not require a pc/laptop

It will only record in-game chat if you set sound output to BOTH the connected headset and TV speakers (Xbox Guide>Preferences>Voice) and are using an audio connection that also passes through the Avermedia capture device. For example, HDMI from the Xbox
360 to your capture device will capture voice with it set to BOTH since HDMI carries audio and video. Red and White RCA cables to the capture device will also capture ingame chat.

    -

So basically, if you do not want this, only choose output to Headset. Not TV speakers or Both.

Cant stream xbox one guide to my pc anymore

I was doing the same thing. I used my Xbox as a game capture device so that I could stream that to the console companion and have OBS capture the console companion for Mixer. I didn't have money for a capture device, so I was pretty disappointed to find
I couldn't capture my games through my Xbox anymore.
