Longer Game DVR recordings

I use my Xbox one game DVR to record than upload my gameplay to my youtube channel "" but the Game DVR only records up to 5 minutes, I wish it could be longer. Does anyone else want longer gameplay recordings on the Xbox one.

Turn off the game DVR completely. Settings preferences turn off game DVR. Note that with it off all gameplay recording including manual methods like record that and the DVR app will no longer be able to record. Hopefully they will add an option to turn off
just the auto recording.

A workaround to this is to broadcast your game play through twitch, which should archive the video if you turn on that option. Replay on your computer while using some sort of capturing program on you computer. Edit, upload and viola

 

Personally, I'm okay with it as is. My connection as slow as it is (6mbps down and 1 mbps up) takes at least 30 minutes just to upload a 3-5 minute clip, so more than 5 is a stretch for me... I just hate that you can't leave the Upload Studio while it's
uploading. I would like to be able to do other things while my clips upload, but the app doesn't let me...

 

if you have a YT channel you are trying to promote... why in gods name would you use the internal XB1 software for capture? I mean seriously.. only 5 clips can be stringed, no transitions, limited editing and options... no control of lighting. shading or
speed...

For the average owner.. what XB1 has is perfect to capture those WTF moments.. 5 minutes is too long for most people... nothing more boring than watching a guy run around on COD trying to quick scope for 5+ minutes...

I prefer simple 30 second clips or short montages of actual exciting footage

Is it 5 mins? I recently recorded a clip that was 9 mins long. Unfortunately, Upload Studio won't let me upload clips longer than 5 minutes.

 

Do you still have to be an Xbox Live Gold member in order to be able to use Game DVR?

 

I have heard repeatedly that capture cards are a waste of money and the only real definitive way to record long gameplay videos without lag and other technical issues is with the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 - Gaming Edition Plus.

 

Capture cards are just the name.. as they were like video cards you used internally (like what I had on my last PC), since it got huge the last 5 years or so.. they started to make external devices..

and TBH, they are a waste unless you are really into it.. it is like a full time job...with 4 hours of gameplay.. you have to remember what happened and where on the clip... then edit it..add effects, sounds, voice overs, all the bells and whistles.. so
after 4 hours of playing, almost 4 hours of messing with the clip etc etc.. you spent 10 hours for a 5 minute clip

 

i only use the 30 second clips for wtf or epic/fail moments so im not fussed about it being extended

 

You can link upto 5 clips in upload, if the clips are 30 seconds or less or more then link 5 together, save it then link another 5, save it then link both of them, as long as it is no more than 5 minutes, I have managed to link 23 clips together using the
one.

 

This actually works good for my YT channel. 5 mins is good for me. i upload it to the One drive and take it off my computer and edit it with sony vegas pro and windows movie maker. so my editing options arent limited
