    Long Term Game Disk Strategy

Premise: I have a large library of on-disk games for 360 that I want to ensure they continue to function in the future.

Is there a strategy to be employed to ensure their long term playability, such as ensure the digital copy has been downloaded in you account history in case the disk becomes scratched in the future? Does the disk still have to work for the game to be available
    if downloaded to console?

    :)

"Setting and forgetting" doesn't work well as a long term strategy for any online service, not just xbox live.

Sony has turned their losing hand (PS3) into a somewhat winning strategy long-term, but it ain't no bed of roses. There is no way both companies could continue to give hardware away by eating $200-300 per unit.

If you want the digital version of a game you will have to purchase it separately. You can install the game from the disc onto your hard drive but you cannot play it without the disc.

  5. I'd recommend not buying the discs at all, because your drive will eventually wear out. Digital versions you don't have to worry about that and they will always be on your account.

  6. SparkleZonFire has good information regarding digital media. However, if you're like me and you prefer physical media to digital, you can always install the games from the disc. That way, you only need to run the disc long enough for the console to recognize
it in the tray; even if the disc has gotten scratched.

    Is XBOX getting too ambitious?

I think that the long term strategy is very focused on exponential growth. people don't want generation 3.5 they want a significant leap in technology. How realistic is that ambition is yet to be revealed.
