Long startup times

Hi,

I've been having this problem for quite some time now. When I start the Xbox One it starts up right away and then within a few seconds it seems to freeze. It won't respond to the X button being pressed on the controllers and nothing else works. This lasts
about 45 - 60 seconds and then everything seems to be fine. The console is setup for instant-on mode.

I've noticed I have the same problem if I've been watching TV for a while and then try to get back to the main screen, it's almost like the rest of the console has gone to sleep and needs time to wake up again before it will respond.

Is it possible this is related to the option "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" which I've selected?

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggestions on what might be going on.

Xbox One is stuck at startup screen after latest update

well, my xbox finally can go through the startup screen and it's on dashboard right now. But taking long time at the startup screen like over 20 mins that freaks me out.

Power cycling your console will fix this issue. Please hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

 

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried power cycling the console and although the first time it starts up it all works fine, the next time it needs start using the instant-on mode I have the same issue again. It's quite interesting in that it will start up,
log in as my user, and then a few seconds later it hangs for 45 - 60 seconds. If I press the X on the controller at the right time I can see the main window overlap the other blocks on the screen until it starts to work properly again.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Alright, try the following steps then.

1. Head to Settings

2. Select Disc & Blu Ray

3. Click on Clear Persistent Storage 3 times

4. Power cycle the console (as listed above)

5. Unplug everything from the console and let it sit for 5 minutes.

If that doesn't work then you may need to look into restoring the console to factory settings or see about sending it in for repairs.

 

Thanks again for the suggestion. It seemed to work after the first one or two starts but now back to the same issue. It also works fine if I shut the xbox down fully and then start it up again. It's only if it starts up from the instant-on mode that this
is an issue.

I have now disabled the start in TV mode option, can only try various things now. The xbox is fully up to date as I'm part of the preview program and everything else works fine, it's just this really frustrating 60 second wait when it first starts up.

 

Any thoughts from anyone at Microsoft who might be able to address this? I've reported this issue through the preview feedback program on the xbox console as well.

Can you please try booting your Xbox in offline mode?

As in either disable network connection or put your Xbox offline (Network settings).

Let me know if this works as I have a suspicion that the latest changes have done something odd with Microsoft cloud connectivity...
