Long install and update times

Hi there everyone. Whenever I get a console update or a new game, the install time is outrageous. They usually take upwards of 2 hours and I often hear of people whom only need to wait for a few minutes. I'm wondering if this is an issue with my internet
or the console as my Wii U console is the same distance from the router as the Xbox one and yet it doesn't not suffer any similar issues.

And these install times and update times are ridiculous. Been waiting about 90 minutes now and installed the game and up to 9% on the game update. It's too long that surely. What is he size of the average game update? This one is 6.9GB, are they all going to be like this.

Plus with these mandatory game installs you can only have about 10 installed at once with the size of them. Plus over 170GB of the hard drive is not accessible. Ridiculous.

 

Why do disk based games take hours to install?

Its due to it downloading a update for the game. The X1 install % caculates based on how long for the disc to install AND the update to download. Considering the update for forza is 6GB that can really make it seem like a long time. Games like legos
was updated and installed within 10-15 mins for me since its update was like 300mb update.

 

What kind of speed test results do you get if you go to settings > network > Detailed Statistics?

Its possible these updates are just larger than what you get on a Wii U, and take longer as a result.

Try these steps:

• Cancel your download
• Press and hold the illuminated Xbox logo on the face of the console for 8 seconds. This shuts the console completely off.
  
• After 60 seconds, press the logo to turn the console back on.
• Attempt to re-download your updates.

This clears the System Cache and all the clutter that may or may not have built up in your memory.

 

If your router is close to your system it will help to plug it directly in instead of trying to go over wifi. Some of the games are pretty large.
