Login to xbox services using a different account than the one linked to my Microsoft ID used ...

I would like to login to xbox services using a different account than the one linked to my Microsoft ID used on my phone.

At least for smartglass I would like the possibility to connect to an xbox that is signed in to another account.

A simple logout / login option as available on ios and android version of smartglass would be great.

Currently I use an android phone to do this. It's sad that the android / ios version of smartglass is more flexible than the Windows version.

Connecting an Xbox Live to an existing profile

You cannot merge two different accounts into one. You can upgrade the offline account on your xbox to a gold account (using a different email than the the one you used for the windows phone) and then factory reset your phone and you will be able to use
the login info from your new gold account.

 

Fixing gamertag or transfering from another Microsoft account

I have two Microsoft accounts (two email addresses @hotmail.com):

The first one is a very old one with a nick name, which I'm not really using anymore. However, this account is linked to a fully working Xbox profile (gamertag). If I login with this Microsoft account, all the Xbox platform is working properly (i.e. I can
login to Xbox games, music, or the Xbox website without any trouble). That's the one I'm logged in with right now in order to access this forum.

The second one is a bit more recent and is using my real name. Therefore I'm using this address as my main Microsoft account on all my devices (i.e. I use it as my primary email address and to login to my Windows Phone, Surface RT or other Windows 8 devices).However,
I have a very frustrating issue with this account: everytime I try to login to any Xbox service, I get an error. On the website, it says "hum hum, it seems you found a glitch in the system" with error code 80153034. If I try to login to Xbox music or video,
I get a similar error code and a message saying the service is unavailable. Basically, this Microsoft account is working fine but the Xbox profile (gamertag) linked to it is completely messed up. The strange thing is, I never had to create a gamertag for this
Microsoft account. The first time I logged into my Windows phone with this account, it created some default gamertag. Now when I'm playing an Xbox game on my Windows phone or my Surface RT, I appear as "PlayerXXXXXXXXXXX" with a long sequence of numbers. If
I try the link to change my gamertag from my Windows phone, it redirects me to the Xbox website and I get the frustrating error with "hum hum".

I've been having this issue for months. The second Microsoft account is really my primary one and I cannot imagine creating a new one, because it's already the perfect combination with my firstname and name in the email address. Besides, I'm using it on
all my devices and as the contact address on many services. However, I cannot really use any xbox service, cannot register for xbox music pass, cannot change my gamertag to something meaningful nor buy movies from xbox videos. I cannot even use the Xbox website
as long as I am logged with this Microsoft account (any page will redirect me to the "hum hum" error).

Thus, I see only two possible solutions: either someone from Xbox can reset/delete/fix the gamertag linked to this Microsoft account, or I could try to transfer the working gamertag from the first microsoft account to the second. However, it seems there
is no way to do that without a console, and I don't have one!

The WP versions of Smartglass do allow you to sign out. At least the Xbox One Smartglass app does:

Menu, Settings, Sign Out, although you can set an Xbox one to accept smartglass comms from accounts other than the signed in one.

You're right in that the 360 version doesn't though, perhaps something for
forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx

 

Thank you for the information regarding SmartGlass for xbox one. I did not know it works there.

What about xbox Music and xbox Video on WP8? Can the account be changed there (sign out)?
