Locking open discussions

It's probably a fault made by a moderator. Just try to rephrase and brief your question clearly, because I think its more of a discussion than a question? Anyhoosays, freezing in a game requires you to Power Cycle your console, if that doesn't help. I
suggest to re-install the game. If that mismatches too, then make sure that you are the owner of the game.

you playing Mercenaries on an Xbox 360 or on an Xbox One via the 360 emulator?

Either way, sorry to hear that your initial troubleshooting only worked in the short term. If you're one the Xbox One, then you may want to continue troubleshooting using our Xbox
One Game Freeze Solution. Alternatively, if on a 360, you would do best to use the Xbox 360 Screen Freeze Solution. Both wizards are really
great at helping you pinpoint and resolve the freezing issue step by step.
