locked out of xbox account please help!

I have forgotten the password to my Microsoft account and am unable to reset the password for the primary email associated with it. I have two-step verification turned but I can only access the secondary email, is it possible to add more security proofs to the primary email without logging into the Microsoft account attached to it? I have tried the account recovery form but it isn't working, although I did read somewhere that if you have two-step verification turned on it won't work. This is all because I'm trying to access my Xbox live account which has a lot of money's worth of games on it. I don't know when Microsoft changed over to this automated system where you cant actually talk to a human being but it's BS if I could just talk to someone I'm sure this could be worked out. I'm stuck in this loop and am unable to log onto my Xbox, I know that anyone who might answer this doesn't work for Microsoft or anything it is just incredibly frustrating that I can't access my account because of one email.

Hello Josh, what you read regarding the procedure of the two-step verification is correct, when it is active it will not work.

What you should try is, contact Xbox Customer Service and ask for an Account Takeover, (ATO) and you'll do the entire information procedure with someone from Microsoft Support.

I know I'm months late to this, but did you ever manage to regain access to your account?? I just hit the exact same problem yesterday, and it is terrible. I hope you were able to regain access.

If you were/are could you relay what you had to do to me so I can also navigate out of this predicament?

Thank you for responding, unfortunately, I have tried to contact Xbox customer support and there is no way to talk to a live person either on the phone or through online chat. When the numbers to contact Microsoft support are called an automated menu ultimately directs the caller to the online support page where there are no phone numbers or any way to get ahold of Xbox support.

There is an automated virtual assistant that recommends trying to use the account recovery form which apparently due to the two-step authentication won't work. I looked for other answers through the virtual assistant but this was the only solution it provided for my problem. Honestly, if I could have talked to a person about this instead of getting stuck in this loop I'm pretty sure this would have been fixed I wouldn't be on here asking the community for help.

Hey Kyle I didn't ask MICROSOFT to do anything I was just logging on and and MICROSOFT DECIDED TO LOCK MY ACCOUNT... Is it because they have an algorithm to check for dead email accounts AND then SCAM the users out of money..... THIS IS FRAUD.. I have proved I own the games. AND this automated online password recovery process is nonsense. AS I HAVE SAID I KNOW MY PASSWORDS. So I an now left out of pocket and FEEL ROBBED because MICROSOFT Decided they want me to change my password.

I WOULD HAVE LOST LESS IF I HAD BEEN HACKED....SCAMMED BY MICROSOFT
