Locked out of Microsoft Account

I have attempted to help my significant other log into their Microsoft account after they have been attempting to do so for almost a month. Due to the purchase of a new phone, they are unable to use the Authenticator app in any capacity. After trying every method of resetting the password, and getting all the way to the screen where a new password can be entered the following message appears:

"There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later."

This message keeps popping up, and a new password is not able to be made. We were on the phone for almost two hours yesterday with customer service who essentially just walked us through the innumerable methods of resetting the password that I kept stressing would not work. It is pretty insane that nobody can help with this issue, as we were told someone would reach out, and nobody has. I am unsure if anyone has any idea what to do now, but I am pretty upset that "nothing can be done."

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are unable to access your Microsoft account due to a lock that has been placed on the account for suspicious activity. Microsoft has a support article which explains more about why

accounts get locked and how to unlock the account. This article relates to the same message that was posted in your image. Go ahead and try some of the solutions in the article, and be sure to let us know the results!

Yes I did, and they told me there is not a phone number for the Microsoft online security team. I just feel like I’m running in circles trying to figure out how to get in touch with someone to unlock this account. I was hoping that someone in the community forum might be able to help direct me or perhaps someone from the Microsoft security team monitors these forums to help get in touch with someone.

Try resetting the password and double check it is the correct email.
