Locate Installed Games On Xbox for PC

Due to Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 recently, and formatting my boot drive, it seems on The Xbox PC app, it doesn't recognize games I already have, Although it does not show it detects gamepass games, if i try to install them it will take absolutely no amount of time due to it already being on the drive, it shows that I have Mortal Kombat 11, a game I have purchased a license for through Xbox though outside of Gamepass, Not installed and that I need to reinstall it. due to the nature of not being able to uninstall it without formatting the drive due to it not being recognized in the Xbox app, The only way I can play the game is to install it twice, or format the drive, of which I do not want to do. If I could get any answers to this, it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Please be aware, you do not need to format an entire drive to re-install games again. You only need to delete the old folder/s This will either be the XboxGames folder or the WindowsApps folder.

When Windows 11 is installed, it's like a new Windows, and all the game pass games are no longer recognized, and need to be reinstalled, you have to format the unit to reinstall the games and not lose the allocated part with the games.

Thanks for replying The Xbox app on PC installs games to the C: drive by default.
Although you can change the default installation location in the app's settings, some users have also told me that the app still returns to the C: drive by default. This could be a bug or a problem with the app.

have you tried to install the games on a different PC (on a different location), just see if it's the PC, your network or an account issue?

If for example you are able to install the game on a different PC, then it's a PC specific issue, but if the same issue happens on a different PC on a completely different location (family/friends location) then it's likely an Account related issue.

Depending on the outcome, additional situation specific steps could be advised.

You have to check that your PC is actually set to that region, if you are using VPN software that could be the reason for the situation also

You need to install the Xbox app from the store on that region, as the app installs according to the region of the store and the store install apps according to your PC location

If you are not really on that location and you have only set the PC to that location that could happen also
