    Hi, so i recently installed windows 11 via Windows insider Program(on a separate partition using upgrade now from a clean install of windows 10) I have my NVMe Drive in 2 partitions, one with Windows 10 and one with Windows 11.
    i have also partitioned my HDD into 2 partitions incase things don't want to play nicely.

    to my delightful surprise Battle.net and Steam Both picked up my "old" libraries on the partition i use in windows 10, but i now want to play Forza 4. and i can't find where to "locate library" like in other launchers/Apps. I can change the default download location, but windows 11 then prompts me that there are apps on that drive(my old games partition) and that in order to continue i must delete these apps(see image). I'm really having a hard time finding a "Locate games/Library" option in the Xbox(gamepass) App. Am i too early to be trying this on Windows 11 or have i overlooked something.

    Hi, to make sure i understand you correctly and you understand my question correctly: i can use (with exceptions ofc) files from both OS, like i use

    my win 10 files/pics/music/libraries (as i am doing) in Win 11, but My (bought/owned) Forza 4 (alongside other gamepass games) needs to be deleted (or duplicate install in both OS) and installed in win 11 because its game files are encrypted via my "Old" OS even tho the game is installed on a disk my Win 11 has full access and privilege to from the same MS account as the Win 10 that was used to install it on the disk? this is what i'm understanding, is this correct?
    Windows Store games are encrypted. They are locked to the OS they where installed to. Windows 11 will treat this folder as from a different instalation and won't have access to the folder. The permissions are not migrated.

    It's not a Windows 11 issue.

    you cant, it does not work like the other launchers even win 10 to win 10, the encrypted folder is tied to that one installation if you reset windows or format then you have to delete and redownload all the games.

    There is no way of transferring games from one install of windows to another for gamepass or windows store installations. yes it sucks.

    Okey thanks for clarification. Do you know if this will change in the future ? if the Xbox app needs to send your pc/console/License of the game an encryption key to access its content to stop people from modding/editing/messing with game files, wouldn't it be possible to "fix" it, i say fix cause to me it is an issue that i get 1 download for 100GB of game and if i want to play it from a different OS/same OS but other version, i need to re-use 100GBs of data and time, or well even in that regard it would even be so on simply another storage unit too within the same OS if permissions are not migrated it sounds to me like these game files are in a sort of virtual container ... sounds klunky..

    Anyways thanks for the reply! no time to waste let the downloads begin!

    i ask this because the word "Transferring" confuses me, i don't want to move my games anywhere i want to start my already installed MS store games in windows 11

    but if so okey then, do they plan on "fixing" that or making a safe workaround to it? i mean a lot of gamers that don't know to format disks are going to have impaired disks if the one existing windows Yes/no Delete option fails....
