I have comcast, therefore I have a data cap. I also have 2 xbox consoles. When a new game launches It gives me a few options but none of which currently are satisfactory.

    Option 1: buy physical

Why option 1 doesn't work,Local peer to peer downloads :patches and downloads still happen.

Option 2: Only install on one console. This segues into my third option which I'll get to

Why option 2 doesn't work: I bought a second Xbox to play my games in multiple rooms. Why should I sacrifice that because of Comcast.

Option 3: Download on one console, then copy to a portable external drive and move to the second console.

This is my current situation. It is the most simple as of now but still very inconvenient.

Option 4: disregard my cap and do as I please.

Why this doesn't work: tried it one month,

I had 600 gigs of data for my Xbox alone because of my Black Friday purchases and installing them onto the brand new Xbox I bought.

My suggestion is to offer a P2P client for local Xbox's(same subnet same house same router) to transfer games downloaded via the "Home" console. If not p2p because the industry hates that term, an adhoc networking feature,

Via, wifi direct, wifi, Ethernet, samba, or Bluetooth

This would inevitably save hundreds of dollars for people in similar situations, and possibly give them the push or desire to buy more digital content.

    :)

  2. XBOX ONE download games using P2P or not?

Xbox games download directly from Microsoft's severs. They are not peer 2 peer based like Bit Torrent.

Increase download speeds with wired connection?

    @Zero

I agree that switching your DNS won't increase your download speed from a single server.

I'm assuming that's not the case when downloading these huge files. We were having this very discussion in the Blizzard forums several weeks ago in regards to peer to peer downloading, etc while downloading the recent expansion to WoW. You appear to know
more about it than I do......are you saying that it isn't helping to switch DNS's? How about on peer to peer? Does MS switch to peer to peer when servers get overloaded? (haven't read the ToS to see if we agreed to it or not)

    Peer to Peer Connection.... Q&A...

Ping and Latency is how the matchmaking works, so in theory, everyone should have about the same connections. The Upload is the biggest part of connections for gaming but it does make sense that the lobby is only going to be as good as its slowest occupant,
but I am not positive. I also believe the lag comp was added into gaming to ease the Godmode host that host used to have and they (the devs) try to even the playing field, so to speak by adding some delay in the connections (however minute) but I think it
kinda fails. I mean I do have great games with great connections alot of the time, but "in general" people complain of the lag. It is what it is.

While some games do not have dedicated servers, there are still servers in place, otherwise how would you be matched with other players? They also track your progress in the game.

Most subscribers play multiple types of online games, most of which now have dedicated servers. This is what you're paying for.
Matchmaking is an excellent example of a service. Thanks for that info.
