Local Network option is missing on the Xbox app on IOS

Question: on your phone, is the app permitted to access your local network?

Check your mobile device settings outside the Minecraft app, and make sure that the app's permissions include "Access to Local Network". That should hopefully fix the problem.

Let me know if that doesn't work. I'd also appreciate whether the phone is either iOS or Android to see if I can find more specific guidance for you.

You can connect your phone to the Xbox over a local WiFi network using the official Xbox app for iOS/Android, and use your phone's keyboard to type messages, URLs, and other text when using the Xbox.

Otherwise, I am not exactly sure what you're asking.

Definitely an odd issue! Which version of the Xbox app are you using and on which platform? Have you tried downloading the Xbox (beta) app to see if it's still missing?

If this issue is down to iOS16 and/or the app can it be fixed please!?!

It is certainly consistent with my experience that wifi local network access (same as Xbox is on) works fine but any remote wifi or cell connection just produces a black screen on the iOS device.

A free, official alternative to the Xbox media remote would be the Xbox smartphone app (iOS/Android). You can load the app on your phone, connect to your Xbox One on your local network, and press the remote icon on the bottom corner. It pretty much has all
of the functionality of the physical accessory.
