Local multiplayer Minecraft guests can't interact with world

Ok, solved my own problem. Posting for others...

Turns out, once the 2nd player is logged into the game, their status is set...

The owner of the world needs to press the three bars button, select the other player, press right onto the hand then a to select the option to change the guest from viewer to member.

Even though the second player can do this himself, it does not keep that setting, and reverts back. The world creator needs to do it...

Exact same problem here. Can explore, die from falling or monsters, can pick up dropped resources. Just can't interact. The right trigger works - the hand animation and sound works - but can't destroy blocks (even sand) and can't attack.

One weird thing is that when i hold the right trigger, it only does a single swing... No auto repeat...

Changed the visitor seeing to operator, and still no joy. Tried restarting console, no joy. Live account is up to date.

Odd thing is, we used to do the local multiplayer all the time, but haven't in a few months. So whatever the cause, it is recent.

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue trying to play with your family.

I would make sure that your console is designated as the home Xbox of the account that has Live access and downloaded the game, that way all of your profiles can share Live. Sign into that account and see if the rest of your family can play afterwards.

I checked out the minecraft forum, but all discussion there is older and only for the "Xbox One Edition" version of Minecraft, which is effectively discontinued, and doesn't have the multiplayer problem.

My issue is with the "regular" (?) version of Minecraft on Xbox (not the Xbox One Edition) ...btw, whoever came up with these two versions is a moron...
