Local currency in my account has not been used in purchase i have just made..

Got an email today - We have added £3.06 into your Microsoft account, and your Microsoft Points have been retired.

Great. Gone to purchase an xbla game at £3.39, and the £3.06 has not been used. Not much money, yeah, but i'm pretty **** at the minute and can do without spending more than i need to. 36p i wouldn't mind, but now this has happened, and as far as i can tell,
there isn't even a 15 min cancellation window like with google stuff.

So what do i do? Will MS sort this out? The whole website is a big confusing mess...

Imported German Xbox

I am American on a US account, stationed overseas in Asia. I use my US account for gaming but I set up a local account for local purchases in local currency. Everything I download to my console on the local account can be used by all users on that console
so I have no issues using the DLC and arcade stuff I buy even while using my US account.

I suggest that you do the same and set up a local account for purchases in local currency or the currency you prefer. Hope this helps.

 

Xbox Live Points on Xbox One

Yes, credit which you used on the 360 can also be used on the Xbox One. Note that Microsoft Points have been transitioned into local currency. Sometime within the near future you should see your points convert into local currency for your region (in most
cases, US dollars). The local currency can be used to make purchases from the Xbox One.

 

To use the currency in your Microsoft Account (MSA), you need to make the purchase from the console. There, when you have insufficient funds to complete the purchase, you pick a secondary option and it will ask you 'do you want to first use the amount in
your Microsoft Account?' Selecting yes will empty the MSA and take the outstanding balance from the other payment method.

The website, however, only works with PayPal and credit cards for the moment and no purchases can be completed there using the currency in an MSA.

 

ah right, cheers. would have been useful if they could have made that clear somewhere. and didn't some people have currency converted last year some time? and it still doesn't work on the website???....

 

Yes, the conversion took place in August. In order for your account to make the conversion you had to start a purchase on the console. However, there have still been a lot of people who haven't done that so Microsoft is now converting people automatically.

When you make a purchase on the website it does tell you what payment method you are using before you confirm the purchase
