Local co-op/split screen and online multiplayer

I must admit, I am not a fan of split screen either, or local co-op, I'd rather online multiplayer or LAN rather than split screen.

Having said that, I actually prefer single player games nowerdays.

You'll want to make sure the games you're trying to play do offer local co-op (split screen) and not just online multiplayer. In the game itself you'll also want to make sure you are choosing the correct settings for local multiplayer and not online. I'm not sure if there is a list of all of the split screen games. There are several lists out there ranking some of the best.

360 games would work the same way.

Oh yeah, you talked about HALO Co-op.

HALO 5 is a SINGLE player game. You can only play co-op online.

But... The Master Chief Collection allows you to play all the previous HALO titles in Co-op.

The online Multiplayer was a mess when it launched but the local Co-op worked fine.

I think "Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate" features split screen co-op. I'll double check when I'm home.

When you launch a game, there is the option for a second player to join for a 2-person co-op. It took me a bit to realize I had to press A 3 times for the other player join while main character is falling in the first menu. Then I could select local game
and play split screen.

I have tried a number of combinations to to try to have a second account join an online game for split screen play and unfortunately I had no luck. I tried both a private, and public match, and sent invites, and even tried joining on my account. The only way
I was able to do split screen was by doing a local co-op game. I was not able to do split screen online multiplayer like I've seen a number of sites say the game should be able to do.

If I figure it out, I'll let you know, but for now it looks like its either split-screen co-op or online co-op but not both.

If you're trying to play the games co-op, not all games have local co-op ability, sometimes referred to as couch co-op. Forza, while it has online co-op, it does not have local co-op.

There are sites out there that will discuss which games have co-op ability. If you want to play them split screen on the same console, look for games that say they support local co-op.
