'Loading' issue when watching media from external harddrive

Hi there

We watch a lot of media through an external hard drive plugged into the xbox. Half way through an episode or a movie, it often comes up with 'loading' and percentages, and then it won't go any further. The loading bar goes to 100% and then starts over. Sometimes
it loads, it does the next 3 minutes in high speed and then goes back to loading. It's getting more and more frequent.

I tried using an alternate hard drive and it didn't even recognise it.

Do you have any advice for me?

Xbox One external harddrive problem

I wish to buy an external harddrive for the xbox, and I always wonder this question.......

I am to buy an extremely large external drive, like 8TB, then i am going to store all my games on xbox one on it of course, those I have now and I will have in future.

Then, can I plug out that drive and save media files from PC on it? I have an media library that I would like to back up in external (primary objective) and then I can also watch it on xbox one (secondary objective).

The thing is, if I finished transfering media to the drive and put it back in xbox one, will xbox alter those file without cosent? like, will xbox one delete those file if my future game installment is larger than available space without telling me before it do so? Or will it just outright overwrite the file even if the storage is not full?

I am sick of getting two external harddrive, buying 2x4TB for PC and Xbox is more expensive and in my region, 8TB of internal harddrive for PC is at exact same price as 8TB of USB 3.0 external harddrive.....

I am in such a worry because I have always assume xbox one as an evil, arrogant machine and the media library I wish to back up is very important.....

Access external HDD on my Xbox 360 via PC

Hi there,

i have an external harddrive plugged to my xbox 360 to consume media over the Xbox/TV. I'd like to access that harddrive with my PC via WiFi or DLNA(?) to put new media on it without moving it from Xbox to PC.
is that possible?

It could be an issue with the hard drive itself. Are there any issues using it on your pc? I use a program called Tversity. It's a free download to your pc and, coupled with a codec package called K-Lite, it allows the console to easily read and stream

If you have an external hardrive pluged in to your xbox one the system will then take the xbox ones main harddrive and use it for a backup for when your external harddrive becomes full. As far as takeing games and apps from the xbox one harddrive to an external
yes that can be done by going to the setting and goto system setting and click on manage storage and select your system storage

Mine is like 6 feet from where I sit but mine is dead silent. The only thing I do hear (now) is the external harddrive. Compare that to the PS4 pro which is at the same distance. That one makes an incredible noise when it gets under load.

If you have an external harddrive try unplugging it and doing a hard reboot. I had this issue in the past and come to find out it was due to a faulty external harddrive.
