Living overseas and Xbox One is dead - how *** am I?

I'm currently living in Tanzania, and I recently bought an Xbox One on a trip back to the US. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know that Microsoft made the incredibly boneheaded decision to have the One's power supply be 110V-only. Literally every piece of
electronics I own - including the Playstation 3 that the Xbox was supposed to replace - has supported input voltages of 110-240V. So unfortunately, after spending hours and hours installing and downloading game data and updates at home, and carrying the Xbox
and all the accessories in my carry-on (not fun given how big and heavy it is), I arrived back in Tanzania and plugged it straight in to 220V.

My hope was that only the power supply got fried, so I decided to get a replacement power supply from someone who offered to bring me one. Sadly, that didn't work...the Xbox still doesn't turn on, and I can hear it making a kind of clicking sound internally,
so something inside the Xbox must have been damaged as well.

I may not be back in the US again for another 6-12 months; needless to say, I am extremely frustrated that I just spend hundreds of dollars on a new system and games, only to potentially have it sitting unused for a year until I can carry the *** thing
back to the US myself and send it to Microsoft for repairs.

My question is, do I have any options here? I'm going to assume that Microsoft doesn't have any repair centers in Africa, and mailing the thing all the way back to the US would likely be so costly that I'd be better off buying a new system. I could try and
have it repaired here at an electronics shop, but that would void the warranty which I'd rather not do. Would it be possible to send it somewhere in Europe to get fixed? I don't even know if shipping would be much cheaper than sending it to the US, but I'm
really desperate for options here Living overseas and Xbox One is dead - how *** am I? :(

    :)

Any particular reason you didn't just exchange it via GameStop?

I will. It's hard though, I'm teaching overseas and the timezones don't line up. While the individual people I've spoken to have done their best, Microsoft has not been endearing itself to me...

...You know how annoying it would be to replace your credit cards when you're living overseas?

    Hi kcapella,

Sorry you're having issues with your console. It sounds like you're experiencing hardware issues, so you would need to go through the warranty site, or contact Xbox Support directly to see what your options would be. The console should work with any proper
power adapter (not the power converter). Please see the links below.
