I only have to choices:

Set your XBox to German in the Region Germany and have all content in german or set it to English with Region United Kingdom and spoken Language English.

But using the later means I get error message when wanting to watch movies as it complains about my IP being from the wrong country.

MS, Please remove Kinect region lock

Hi,

first of alI, I am really happy with my Xbox One. But, as a German who likes to play games in their orignal language, I find it quite frutrating that I can't set my console to English language while I have chosen Germany as my region, which I have to, in
order to be able to buy and download stuff from the store. Even in games where you can choose the language in game (like Tomb Raider DE), I can't use English Kinect voice commands if my console's region is Germany. Hence, it would be really nice if I could
have my region set to German and my system language set to English at the same time.

Physical migration from one country to another

Almost a year ago I moved from the Netherlands to Germany. I did not have any language problems ('System settings' > 'Console settings' > 'Language and local' set to 'English' and 'Netherlands') with my Xbox or on Xbox.com. When purchasing stuff either via
Xbox.com (online) or the Marketplace (console) everything was in English.

Then the new update came (still very nice though) and that is when I started having LOCALISATION problems. Whereas purchases or the screens would partially be in English and partially in Dutch? I then changed everything on Xbox ('System settings' > 'Console
settings' > 'Language and local' set to 'English' and 'United Kingdom'), as well as on Hotmail. Which is obviously complete bollocks to do, because my locale should be 'Germany'.

Now today, I was managing my account (XBOX > Profile page > 'Account Management' > 'Manage Account' > 'Your Information' > 'Billing Information'), as I wanted to upgrade my Silver (Free) back to a Gold account. As I was updating my address (via controller)
and then saving ('Done') my Xbox actually had the nerve to tell me that my postal code is incorrect (doesn't match my region); even changing the 'locale' to 'Germany' did not do the trick!

As I already have problems with languages on Xbox.com (online) and the Marketplace (console), I am reluctant to set my region to 'Germany' as then probably everything will be 'German' as this influences the language.

Why can't Region be split into a both region (where you live) and spoken language (the language in which you want your legal stuff and website to be seen in)? Because now I cannot change my Billing Information, because then I will run the risk of not being
able to read anything anymore?!

There is however a thread on the Xbox Feedback website where you can vote to have your language and region being set independently from eachother so that in your case you can use the English language in the German region.

I am also having the same issue here in Germany. I can speak 3 languages, but as I chose English which is my preferred language to use, i am now unable to select Germany as my region. I find it rather close minded that they cant separate language and country
especially in this day and age. It's hard to believe that microsoft can think that if i live in Germany i therefore only understand German. I guess i'm the only person in Germany that can speak English...

Mister gwyther Said there is no way to change the region, so there is also no way to change the market place language to your mother language, if ms donot want to support it.

What I want is just the English interface for my Xbox in Germany plus English speech recogzatiom from kinect. All these things are already built in my Xbox, but i can't use them. Outside MSWorld, They are never problem for ios and android devices.

Yesterday I was able to play EDF 2025 on my console after I set it back to Germany.

I was able to buy/download it through the console's store after I changed the console's country and language setting to English Australia (others reported that other countries like Austria and US also work).

However, some mentioned, that the game asked for a disc or digital ownership.

It seems that Xbox fixed that (at least in Germany), because I was able to launch the game and play the first mission without issues, even after I set my console back to Germany and German language.

thank you for the fast response first of all.

Since my account was created back on my 360 while living in Germany it most likely is German. My consoles language is English and region is set to US since there is no other way to make sure that all downloads are in English otherwise. If I would go ahead
and change my accounts language to match the consoles, I should be fine then correct?
