    Live TV Quality Degrades After Update.

    I'm not positive it was an update this morning but the TV app settings auto ran this morning first time I selected the TV App. I needed to re-select my provider and cable box type, even though the settings were prepopulated. That was quite odd and unexpected.

    Was there an update 8/28/2014?

    When the TV App was first run the audio and video was out of sync by about 2 seconds. Exiting and restarting the TV App itself did not fix the issue. Toggling the cable box off/on did solve the audio sync issue.

    Video quality is definitely degraded regardless. The issue seems to be a lower frame rate. While static video is clean video with any movement is not smooth, and it's quite annoying. Best way to describe how it looks is to say it looks like ESPN web broadcasts,
    as when frames are dropped because of lower bandwidth.

    Toggling the cable box off/on will fix this temporarily, but the fix seems to last only a few minutes, then it reverts to an obvious lesser quality. This has been consistent all day. I've not seen it before.

    Question on hooking up to Direct TV and quality.

    Hey there Destroyer, you shouldn't lose any quality. If you had multiple devices chained together between your console and TV then yes, quality will degrade because of the number of devices and cables that the feed needs to pass through.

    With a basic setup of TV and Set Top Box like what you're describing, you should be alright. =)

    same here, may or may not be related, but i noticed a degrade in quality after i setup the port forwarding on my router to get the NAT open.

    I'm glad you've noticed this because I have too. For me it started when I turned on the XBO yesterday. I have Sky HD running through it, and straight away when I was watching Sky Sports I noticed the picture isn't smooth any more. It's not like the 50hz
    judder it's different. I've restarted my XBO and reconfigured the TV settings in there, and I've also restarted my Sky HD box and reconfigured the settings on that. Neither worked. I've tried playing around with 720p or 1080p on the XBO settings and tried
    720p or 1080i on the Sky HD box settings. Whatever I try just doesn't work.

    What's happened?! :-(

    I have the same problem after new update using my virgin tivo box. The live sport seems to have ditortion and blur.

    Same issue. Watching Sky Sports HD / SD (Football / Tennis) the ball is distinctly blurring / ghosting whenever it moves.

    Although toggling the Sky Box off and on seems to work as a temporary fix...

    I have the same problem since the new update, using Shaw cable in Canada. found that changing the input on the tv to another source and then back will fix it for 10-15 mins but then the stuttering returns...

    I wonder if MS is aware of this issue? It seems to nearly affected everyone, as most are reporting exactly the same issue, me included on a SKY HD box

    Lordkramuk - Yes, MS is aware of the issue. I am in the Xbox Preview program and it has been an issue for some of the testers (myself included) since the first Sept preview build was released to us almost 3 weeks ago. Yet, for whatever reason, MS went
    ahead and pushed the Sept update to everyone on Friday anyway...

    Having said that, MS did release another September build to us preview users last night (xb_rel_1409.140829-1829) with a potential fix for the issue and it did fix the jittery video for some/most of the preview users (including myself, I have Time Warner
    Cable in USA). My guess is it will be pushed out to everyone in the next few days (barring any other issues that come up, of course).
