Live TV doesn't fit in screen - black bars on side

The black bars on each side of the screen are just the resolution that your TV is set to. You can adjust your TV while the DVD is playing to have it stretch to fit the entire screen, if you'd like.

Some games have an option to alter the display to fit the screen you are using, have you tried altering this in your games. The only problem you may encounter is that you might then get a black bar down the right hand side of your display but it's worth
trying.

Does your TV have an option to position the display?

My first complaint are that TV episodes can't be selected before loading a show. A bigger complaint is that the option to stretch old 4:3 programs to fit a 16:9 screen is gone (I hate those vertical black bars on older movies and shows!)

Now it is not working on any TV I try after working on other TVs for a little bit. Black bars now appear on the sides of all the TVs when trying to watch TV through the Xbox.

Is it just a black screen that you get? Not sure if it's the same issue, but I get this sometimes as well. The way that I get around it is that it will still let me press the Home button on the controller, which will bring up the side bar menu on the left
side of the screen, over the black screen. I'll then select Home from the menu, and it will freshly load the Home screen on the Xbox and there is no more black screen. Hopefully that works for you as well.
