Live Gold Trial Canceled?

Hello, hopefully someone here will be able to help me..

Last Tuesday I got an Xbox One, and set up my account, and since it is a new xbox and my first account it then offered me the option of getting a free trial gold which I very happily accepted. Since I had to put in the billing info I received an email from
billing (no charges of course since it was free) saying I have purchased the trial gold, this was good since I knew it went through properly.. Unfortunately just a few minutes later I received another email from billing saying I had canceled my membership,
but I never asked for it to be canceled (why would I? It was a month free) I am not sure what happened and why it would have just canceled but would it me possible for me to get the trail gold back since I never actually got to use it?

If you upgrade to Xbox Live Gold during your non-renewing trial period, your Xbox Live Gold membership won't start until the end of your free trial. You won't be eligible to download a currently offered free game until your trial period ends and your paid

48 hour xbox live trial

Trials don't give you Gold from what I heard. I don't think you can use trials to get Gold discounts or the free games.

Trials don't allow you to have access to games with gold or deals with gold, plus trials can't be used on an account that already had gold previously. @OP, just buy a month of live.

I checked my gold tenure on the link eG x Thee Elf posted and mine says

but yet I have no number next to my name

Even though the Xbox Live Gold trial subscription is free, we need a payment option on file because the subscription will renew to a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription unless you cancel it. You must add a payment option such as a credit card or PayPal to your
account for it. If you don’t want a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription after your Xbox Live Gold trial subscription ends, you will need to cancel it.

The free month of Xbox Live gold can be applied from the account creation process if you are making a new account.

If you already have a Microsoft account and don’t have an active Xbox Live Gold paid subscription, you may be able to sign up for an Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription.

Here’s how to sign up:

Sign in to the Subscriptions page with your Microsoft account.
If you’re eligible for a free trial, you’ll see Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial as a subscription offering. Select Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial, and then select Next.
If prompted, add a payment option to your account. If you already have a payment option on file, you can use that.

Important At the end of the first (free) month, your trial subscription automatically turns into a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription that renews monthly by default. The paid Xbox Live Gold subscription will renew to the payment option you
added to your account.

If you don’t want the Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription to renew, you must cancel it. See “How to cancel an Xbox Live Gold trial subscription,” below.

As clarified in the support page you need a valid method of payment linked to your account in order to get the free trial:
