live gold membership (not activated yet) brought from US to be activated in India?

Hi

I have a redemption card with QR code for one year live gold membership that a friend have brought for me from US, my question is

1. can I use it in India on Xbox one

2. If I can use it , to activate it should my region on xbox one be US or India.

I would be thankful if you could answer this I am really looking forward to this.

I do have a gold membership card I just haven't activated it yet.

 

xbox live gold membership doesnt activate

i bought xbox live gold for 1€. It was a Winter offer. But After i purchased it it didnt activated. I waited 5hrs and i still not have gold membership activated. I restarted xbox also my router still doesnt work. Pls fix it.

Sorry but Gold membership codes can only be used for the region that they were originally purchased for. In this case the code can only be used for a US account.

 

Hey if you can't use it in India I would very much aappreciate it if you gave it to me because I live in the United States. Thank you for your time.

What does it mean when one says US account? Does someone has to be physically in US?
