Live gold account that you find on the net for 30-40 euros for 12months, are they legal?

Everythign on the title... I was wondering.

I think they are as they are also sold by real shops that ensured me that are official Microsoft codes. Buy then the question is also why they are cheaper than the ones sold directly by MS on their website? (12 months about 60 euros, almost the double!)

Xbox live 40% discount

My xbox live is due to expire and I noticed an offer on the dashboard for a 40% off 3 months but full price for 12months a friend of mine also got the 40% discount off his 12month membership. Why is the 12month discount not applied on my account or can this
be rectified?

iv just brought a 12month $40 pound xbox live gold and i put the redeem code in it comes up with redeem now i click on it then a red box saying xbox market places xbox live can not find the details erro code status 84f01 somthing like that

 

In the USA, Amazon sells Xbox Live Gold 12 Month codes, sometimes for less than MS charges. Should be legitimate in the EU as long as it's a trusted reseller.

MS's sales on Gold are usually on the Dashboard (or at least, have been on the 360). I've bought two years of Gold plus some MS Points from MS in the past for $84 or so.

 

I always buy my 12 month gold card when Amazon has them on sale. Just make sure you're buying from a reputable site and you should be in the clear. As for why they are cheaper I think that's up to the shop or the website you buy from.

 

As long as it's a good site. Best yet to buy from an authorized retailer. I also look for security certificates for unfamiliar sites (padlock on your IE address bar verified by Verisign or someone). If it's a site with a lot of ads I don't trust it. I live
in NZ and in my first year which was 2011 Xbox was giving away 12 months for only NZ$47 but you the promotion was only on offer by getting it on your console not xbox.com. Normal RRP for 12 months in NZ is $79.95. When I went to renew my 12 month subscription
at the start of this year, JB Hi Fi a NZ/Aussie retailer, was selling 12M gold cards for only $47 a sale which lasted one week. Sometimes over here we have retailers who sometimes hold 40% sales. That's still a good bargain and having Xbox Live Gold isn't
really too expensive. Pay it once and you're sorted for a long 12 months
