    Live Account password recovery nightmare

So I haven't used my live account in a few years (probably 4+) and I decided I wanted to log in to Uplay for assassin's creed, so I connected the old 360 to the internet and I was immediately kicked out of my live account and had to log back in. I didn't
think this would be a problem but holy cow here I am 5 days later ready to hire a hacker to get in for me because Microsofts account recovery is so incredibly pathetic.

So I try a a few different passwords, maybe like 10-12 different variations of what I'm pretty sure it is, and it tells me I'm trying to many times and I have to send a code to the email I set up the account with (which I doubt many of us in our early adult
years have access to if we made the account when we were preteens like I did), or I have to use the account recovery and reset my password, which is the first problem I have with this security. If someone wants to develop a program for trying as many passwords
as possible as fast as possible using generic combinations, they can make a program that is able to try a few thousand every second. So kick me out after 100 or so, because I probably would've gotten in within the next 10-20 tries.

Now i have to fill out the account recovery, but I can only do this twice every 24 hrs (which is even more BS). This didn't seem like a big problem because I know everything about my account besides the password. Boy was I wrong. On my first attempt I absent-mindedly
put in my current credit card number, current address, etc, not thinking about using the info that was current to me the last time I used my account. So 50% of my attempts for that calendar day were a waste. Tried again 6 hours later when I got my "information
not sufficient" email, and put in all the correct info according to my circumstances last time I used the account (which is the same info as when I made the account). Still no good. So I call customer service and even though they can get into my account and
I can't, there's nothing they can do because the higher ups took their access to that power away apparently due to how "bUlLeTpRoOf" their recovery system is.

The recovery system wants to know the email for your account, 4 possible passwords, the answer to a security question, your location, what Microsoft services you've used, your name, date of birth, location, your gamertag, CONSOLE ID (HOW COULD THEY STILL
THINK I'M LYING IF I HAVE THAT INFORMATION), credit card info, etc. I can provide all of this with 100% certainty that the information in filing in is accurate to the account, except for the password attempts, which at this point I'm almost sure I've guessed
the right one, and they still "determine the information I've provided is insufficient to validate my account ownership". It's absolutely unreal to me that a company like Microsoft could be this bad at making an automated system to recover lost passwords in
    the year 2020.

It's honestly not even that I care about the hundreds of dollars in purchases I'm losing or hundreds of hours logged into GTAV online and CoD BO2 that are gone forever, but the fact that after 8-9 years of owning this account, I can't even get in to remove
my credit card for personal security reasons.

    It's absolutely ridiculous microsoft.

    :)

Thanks for the reply. I've contacted a support person twice and they are able to access my account and they have both confirmed its still active, but they're unable to help me recover it as that's all up to the automated system.

How many years has your account been inactive? Now after 2 years with no login, Microsoft shut down accounts.

If you have tried the recovery, all you can do is go via the main support website. At the virtual agent select see other options, then pick a topic, then select show contact options and request a callback. HTTPS://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us

Can't sign in to main account.

Try using the password recovery, and checking all your e-mail accounts. The one with the password recovery email is the one
that you will use to log into "eRa Frisbee Jr" on XBOX live. Thanks!

    Password/Account recovery

Hello señorhute,my name is Oskayra, I will be happy to help you in any way possible.

I know how frustrating it can be to lose access to one of your accounts. The only alternative you have at this time is to submit the account recovery form. There is no other way. I have already investigated them and the only way to recover an account is as follows.

The first thing is to enter information that the account has, in case a phone number or card has been deleted, you should simply omit that information and not add it to the form, you can enter the following link:

    https://account.live.com/acsr

Here are some tips to help you complete the Microsoft account recovery form:

-One piece of advice I can give you is to get as much information as possible, the more information you give to Microsoft that can verify your identity and recover your account. Include your name, email address, date of birth, phone number, and any other information you can remember about your account.

-Be specific and precise. When answering the questions on the form, be specific and precise. For example, if you are asked for your date of birth that you used to create your account, don't just say "my date of birth." Instead, say "my date of birth is [date of birth]."

-Remember your passwords. If you know your account password it can help a lot to recover, as already said all possible information may be necessary.

-Be patient. The account recovery process may take several days or even weeks. Don't be discouraged if you don't receive a response right away.

Please note that Xbox support cannot help recover accounts, but in that case, if you want to contact them and talk in a live chat for more detailed information, you can access the link below.

    Support: https://support.xbox.com/contact-us/

If none of the aforementioned data does not work, the account may not be recovered.

Remember that this is a public forum of the Microsoft community where we are players like you who try to help/guide other players to find the solution to the problems they are experiencing, however we do not belong to Microsoft, this means that we do not have access to the accounts or information of other players.

I hope the information is helpful to you, if not, let me know that I will be happy to continue helping you, good luck and happy day.

    Sincerely,
    Oskaira.
