Little black boxes?

What do those little black boxes mean next to players' icons? I used to think it meant you had premium, but I just got premium, and there's no little black box next to my icon.

Little Black and White Beacons

If you've gotten the game, and wandered around Middle Earth, you'll likely have seen these little black and white things in pairs that have flashing red lights. What are these for? Are they similar to the ones in Harry Potter where you pass through them
on a ridable object? If so, I've tried this and the character always jumps down and the cart or whatever returns to the place of origin. I've tried going several different ways and the same thing happens. I'm confused.

 

It doesn't mean that the player has camo, either.

 

Means they are in a platoon

The platoon set up I have noticed is, yours in number 0, then all the 1s are in a group together all the 2s are in a group together, and so on. I only noticed this because all the 1s are on the same team and all the other numbers are on there receptive team
as well. While my platoon all have the same icon next to them.
