Listening to your music on Xbox One.

I made this thread back in November, and now that everyone's settled and what not, I'm making it again.

Listening to music on my 360 was perhaps my favorite feature of the console. I did it all the time, and it was just really great and easy.

It irritates me to no end that the Xbox One (With all its apps and snapping and multimedia functionality) cannot play music off a USB, nor rip music off a CD. Even just one of these would have been much, much better than nothing.

I don't want to pay for MS music or whatever, nor would MS music even have what I want to listen to have the time.

Now I hear you guys are somehow listening via playing from your computers? I have no idea how to do this.

What's more as yes, I know you can open Youtube in the background or some crap like that and stream your music, but that would stress my 3mbs connection even more and probably lag up my game. Does youtube even play the sound through if you unsnap it and
go back to the game?

I'm really pissed I'm likely not going to be able to play music when Titanfall comes out.

Any of you know an actual viable way to listen to your own tracks while playing X1?

I agree!!! I use to love listening to my own mix of saved CD's while playing games. Even more, just chilling out listening to music with the screen savers running on the music player. Xbox got many things wrong when they decided on the Xbox One performance
abilities. Why take away what we loved on the 360?

Try starting up music playback on your phone (Spotify app) and then open the Spotify for Xbox One app, and in the phone app click on "Devices available" and select your console. That should "send" the playback to your console and let you continue listening
to music there.

Well we know by the end of 2014 full playback and storage functionality by USB will happen. However due to copyright issues we can no longer rip music as it encourages people to rip it and pass on. Be thankful we can even play CDs, PS4 cannot.

Play To may be your only option.

 

How exactly does one use play to? I have a windows 8 laptop. Is that all I should need?

 

If I remember correctly there is an app, you may or may not need Xbox Music snapped. I don't use it personally, just use a regular CD player.
