  1. Lip Sync issue on Dolby Atmos with Xbox One X and Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar over HDMI ARC

    Hi guys

I need your help as this is driving me crazy at the moment Lip Sync issue on Dolby Atmos with Xbox One X and Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar over HDMI ARC :D

I have a Lip Sync issue with my Xbox one X configured in Atmos and my Sasmung HW-Q90R soundbar, both connected via HDMI ARC (with LG 65C9 tv)

    So my set up :

    - LG 65C9 Oled TV with HDMI 2.1 and eARC

    - Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar with Atmos decode, HDMI 2.0a

    - Xbox One X

So I connected the soundbar to the TV via HDMI ARC (many websites mention there is eARC enable on this soundbar made available via a firmware update, mentioned by ThechRadar or Digital Trends), and Xbox One
X is connected to the TV directly to leverage HDMI 2.1 features such as ALLm or VRR.

For the soundbar eARC, I've done many tests with apps directly on TV and I don't think eARC is really enable. Only Netflix can send Atmos to the soundbar (soundbar display the logo) but it's compressed DD+
Atmos, not a DD True HD Atmos.

With the LG tv configured to digital audio output on passthrough mode, when connecteing the Xbox One X also configured to out "Dolby Atmos for Home Theater" I also receive Atmos sound on the soundbar (logo being displayed on it) but I have a sync issue as I
have a huge delay on audio !

And absolutely impossible to correct this delay through TV settings (AV sync) nor soundbar setting (SYNC).

But if I change the audio output from Xbox One X to Dolby Digital, then the sync issue disappear !

So my guess is that the Atmos audio can't be delivered properly from Xbox to soundbar through TV as this is not real eARC. Anyone else having this issue ? any possible fix existing ?

Or should we simply wait for Samsung to make the eARC update available as they promised ? knowing that Samsung UK just confirmed to a journalist I contacted on Twitter this eARC update is coming this November 2019...but will this really solve my Lip Sync issue
    ?

    Thanks !

    :)

    Hello

Thanks for your help but it didn't help.

So used the contact form from Dolby Atmos customer support, hopefully they'll be able to help or at least confirm if it's an ARC / eARC issue.

    Thank you

Xbox One X 4k & HDR not working through Soundbar with pass-thru

Ok... wow after a few frustrating hours I have it.

    First. Im running

    Q80R tv

    Q90R soundbar

    Xbox one X

    Connected.

Xbox hdmi out into soundbar hdmi 1

Soundbar hdmi arc to tv hdmi arc

    Settings

    Soundbar set to hdmi 1

    Xbox - video settings

    - most video mode check boxes on

    - res = 4k

    - fidelity and overides are default

    - pretty much all green ticks in 4k tv details

    Xbox - audio settings

    - hdmi audio = bitstream out

    - bitsream format = Dolby atmos

    Tv

    - source = soundbar

    * note that in sound settings, expert settings the output says PCM but no need to pay attention since the source is the Xbox, nothing going from tv. If u flick to to a tv app like Netflix running on tv then it will change to atmos and send atmos to the
    soundbar from tv.

    Things I got wrong :)

    - firmware latest on soundbar. I read a few posts about pass through not working on old firmware.

    - the hdmi cable I was using for arc wasnt v1.4 cable. Seems that makes a difference... i had a v1.3 and nothing. A v1.4 comes with the q90r soundbar, use it for the arc connection.

Finally... how do I know it works.... I downloaded atmos test .mp4 from the Dolby website onto usb played on Xbox. No doubt... very happy :)

ATMOS on most recent Xbox One X

App is not recognizing my HDMI input from Samsung One Connect to the XBox One X and Samsung Q80R Soundbar. Called Samsung support...walked me through settings for television to ensure One Connect set properly and the Dolby App will not let me select ATMOS...just
    DTS and Dolby.

Soundbar also would not update firmware when I inserted USB drive....so Samsung is asking me to send soundbar to them for repair/replacement. What a pain...

All I get is TV ARC on display....even if playing the ATMOS media from Dolby App on Xbox or YouTube Demo media.

I swapped out the HDMI between One Connect and XBOX with no change even rebooting system. Did rest on soundbar. Used regular, ethernet enabled and High Speed HDMI....got a couple 4k cables as well to try as last resort before I ship to Samsung for service.

    So the journey begins.

    Dolby Atmos and 4K

    Thank you for replying.

    LG 65 inch OLED C9.

Soundbar Samsung HW 950. Both support Dolby Atmos.

Currently, the console is plugged into the TV via HDMI. Then the soundbar receives the sound via eARC.

Apple TV is configured the same way. Dolby Atmos works fine.

TV configured at 60 HZ, 30 bits per pixel.

I am not part of the Insiders Program, would it be worth enrolling?

4K HDMI cable, the same type of cable to Apple TV. Dolby Atmos works just fine.

    Cheers.
