linking xbox together

hi im new and needing some advice and help. i have an xbox one and at pressent my son has the xbox 360 but i am thinking about getting him the one. is there any way we will be able to play each other without having to buy 2 copies of each game? either vie
a system link or network link or even through xbox live it just seem a bit of an expensive task if we will both need a copy of the game. and avice withh be excellent thanks in advance

Quick question's about LAN

With EA closing servers for games like Army of Two and LotR's Conquest is it still possible to play these over local area network or by just linking two xbox's together?

I have a few Xbox's in my house, so I know exactly what you're talking about. For this if he has games you want to play, and you have games he has to play you can get setup Home Xbox's to resolve this. This is going to sound a little backwards, but this
is how you do it. For the games that you have, that you want your son to play, you setup his Xbox as "Your" home Xbox. That way he can play your games. Then he would set your Xbox as his "Home" so you could play his games.

If it's in the same household, then totally fine. Now if he lived somewhere else that would be breaking ToU. Please remember too, that if you purchase things online, they will get auto installed to his console not yours. So you will need to manually anything
get online as it will not automatically install.

 

That is not what the op is asking. And no, you can't play a system link game between two seperate consoles without two seperate copies of the game. And right now since the backwards compatibility hasn't been fully implemented so you can't do a system link
between the One and 360 anyway.

 

I thought with the "I'm thinking about getting him the One" he meaning One to One game sharing? Perhaps I read wrong.

 

Also reading ToU, it looks like if the game is digital there would be no issues with both playing the same game (provided they're both Xbox One consoles in the same home).

 

That is my point: he can system link between two Ones or 360s but not between a 360 and a One. Maybe BC will fix it. Either way he still has to have 2 seperate copies of game...one for each console. He wants to play system link with just one game copy
and he can't. And of course the game has to have a system link option.

when i asked xbox staff they said it was possible to play each other with only one copy of the game

 

If they're digital games you can do it using the home sharing I stated above. if they're physical games you will not be able to use a single copy and will require two.

 

no point downlaoding games they wont have any resale value and its a bit expensive to buy 2 of each game seems a bit greedy from microsoft

 

Sorry but that's the only option. There is no way to use a disc game in two places at once. I wouldn't call this greed on Microsoft's part. There is no console that has ever done this in any way shape or form.

 

but the fact they can do it vie downlaod games means they could do it with disk buthey would rather you eaither buy 2 copies or downlaod it so that you cant then trade it in. just have to wait til the games have been out a while and buy 2 copies cheers for
